Carbon Chat is a channel-based chat mod for Fabric, with just about every setting and format configurable. It needs Java 21 or newer.

- Fabric: Minecraft 1.19.4 to 26.3. The newest build requires adventure-platform-mod, Fabric API, LuckPerms and Cloud Minecraft Modded, optionally MiniPlaceholders; some builds for 1.21.10 to 1.21.11 require adventure-platform-mod, Fabric API and LuckPerms; some builds for 1.19.4 to 1.21.10 require LuckPerms.
What Carbon adds to chat
- MiniMessage formatting with RGB colour, click events, hover events and everything else JSON chat supports.
- Channels with join and leave commands, plus radius-limited or world-limited channels.
- Mute and ignore commands, chat clearing and a basic party system with party chat.
- Cross-network chat over Redis, NATS or RabbitMQ.
- Item linking, plus @Username pings with highlights and sounds.
- A quick-chat prefix and command per channel.
- Custom channels for mcMMO, FactionsUUID and Towny.
- Automatic locale detection, with translations used when one exists for the player's language.
Discord relaying works through EssentialsXDiscord and DiscordSRV, and each channel has its own discord format.
Installing and configuring Carbon
- 1.Set up the Fabric loader first, following the Fabric install guide.
- 2.Place the mod file and every required library in the mods folder.
- 3.Install LuckPerms, which Carbon requires on all platforms.
- 4.Edit the channel config to set formats, radius and cooldowns.
Channel files use HOCON. Each has a key ("carbon:global" by default), a basic format block with default_format, console and discord entries, and an optional quick-prefix. The radius setting is the distance players must be within to see each other's messages, and a value of 0 requires both players to be in the same world. Cooldowns are set per channel.

What is Carbon Chat?
Carbon Chat is a chat mod and plugin built on channels. It handles message formatting with MiniMessage, mutes, ignoring players, parties, item linking and pings. Nearly every format and setting is configurable, and channels can be limited by radius or world.
Does Carbon Chat need LuckPerms?
Yes. Carbon requires LuckPerms on all platforms it supports, so install it before launching. Newer releases for Fabric also need a few more libraries, which the dependency list on this page covers.
Can Carbon Chat connect chat to Discord?
Yes. It supports EssentialsXDiscord and DiscordSRV, and each channel config has a discord format that controls how relayed messages look. You still need to set up one of those Discord integrations separately.
Which Java version does Carbon Chat need?
Carbon requires Java 21 or newer. This is separate from the supported game range, which is listed in the loaders section of this page.
