Crawl

A single-purpose mod by fewizz that lets you crawl. The key ships unbound, so you assign it yourself before anything happens.

Minecraft versions1.18.2, 1.19.3, 1.20.2, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2, 26.3

It runs on Fabric, NeoForge and Forge, and it must be installed on both the client and the server. Quilt releases have stopped, so treat Quilt as legacy.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.20.1 to 26.2 require Fabric API.
  • NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21.1 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.21.1 to 1.21.11. The newest build needs no dependencies.
  • Quilt: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 1.20.2, builds stopped after November 2023. The newest build needs no dependencies; builds for 1.20.1 require Fabric API.

Binding the crawl key

Crawl ships with its key unbound. Nothing happens until you assign a key to the Crawl action yourself.

Installing Crawl

  1. 1.Pick the loader you play on (Fabric, NeoForge or Forge) and match the file to your Minecraft release.
  2. 2.Place the mod file in the mods folder inside your game directory, which is .minecraft/mods by default.
  3. 3.On Fabric, some releases also need Fabric API in the same folder. The newest Crawl release does not.
  4. 4.Put the same mod file on the server, launch with the loader's profile, then bind the Crawl key.

If you have never set up a loader, the guide to installing mods on Java Edition walks through the folder and profile steps.

What to expect

The trade-off is the two-sided install, since the mod is required on both the client and the server.

Questions about Crawl.

4 questions

How do I crawl with the Crawl mod?

Assign a key to the Crawl action first. The key is unbound by default, so nothing happens on a fresh install. Once you have bound a key, use it to crawl. If it still does nothing, confirm the mod file is in the mods folder and you launched with the matching loader.

Does the Crawl mod work on multiplayer servers?

Yes, but it is required on both the client and the server. Put the same mod file in the mods folder on both sides, and use the same loader and Minecraft release on each. Then bind the Crawl key on the client, since the key is unbound by default.

Which loaders does Crawl support?

Crawl supports Fabric, NeoForge and Forge. Quilt releases exist for older Minecraft releases but stopped after November 2023. Pick the file that matches your loader, and on Fabric check whether your release needs Fabric API.

Is the Crawl key set by default?

No. The Crawl key is unbound by default and you have to specify it yourself. Assign a key before you try to crawl, then check that the mod file sits in the mods folder and that you launched with the matching loader.
