Croptopia is a farming and cooking mod for Minecraft Java Edition that adds 58 ground crops, 26 fruit trees, and more than 250 food items to build recipes around. It runs on Fabric and NeoForge up to Minecraft 26.2, with an older Forge build capped at 1.20.4, and works on both the client and the server.
What Croptopia adds
- 58 new ground crops and 26 fruit trees, found or grown depending on the Minecraft version
- Over 250 food items, from raw ingredients to fully cooked dishes
- New kitchen items and cooking mechanics for turning crops into meals
- An optional Patchouli recipe book that lists every food and ingredient by category
Crop acquisition changes with the game version. On 1.16 and 1.17 builds, players break tall grass in the right biome or till the ground with a hoe to find seeds. From 1.18 onward, wild crops can be harvested directly, and versions from 4.2.0 onward let players cut tree crop leaves with shears at the right growth stage instead of felling the whole tree.
Installation and dependencies
- Fabric build requires Fabric API and Epherolib, a small shared library from the same author
- NeoForge build requires the NeoForge release of Epherolib
- Patchouli is optional and only needed for the in-game recipe book
- The current codebase has no active Forge port; the last Forge build stopped at Minecraft 1.20.4
Supported loaders and Minecraft versions
Fabric and NeoForge both reach Minecraft 26.2 as of the July 2026 release. Forge stopped receiving new game-version support after 1.20.4: a Forge build for 1.20.1 was published in May 2026, months after the 1.20.4 file, but it targets an older Minecraft version, not a newer one. Anyone running Forge should treat 1.20.4 as the real ceiling, not whichever download has the newest date.
Pairing with other food and farming mods
Croptopia focuses on adding crops and finished dishes rather than tracking nutrition, so it pairs naturally with a HUD mod like AppleSkin for reading saturation and hunger values, or with a heavier cooking expansion like Farmer's Delight for more kitchen mechanics.
Questions about Croptopia.
5 questions
Does Croptopia work with Forge?
Only up to Minecraft 1.20.4. Active development targets Fabric and NeoForge, and the newest-dated Forge file actually targets the older 1.20.1 release rather than a higher version, so 1.20.4 stays the real Forge ceiling.
What does Croptopia add to Minecraft?
It adds 58 ground crops, 26 fruit trees, and more than 250 food items, plus new kitchen items for cooking them into finished dishes. An optional Patchouli-powered recipe book lists every ingredient and dish by category.
Does Croptopia need any other mods installed?
Yes. Both the Fabric and NeoForge builds require Epherolib, a small shared library from the same creator. Patchouli is optional and only adds the in-game recipe book.
Which Minecraft version does Croptopia support?
Fabric and NeoForge builds reach Minecraft 26.2 as of the July 2026 release. Older builds go back to 1.16.5, but no Forge build has shipped past Minecraft 1.20.4.
Where can I download Croptopia?
Croptopia is distributed through its official CurseForge listing, which lists every loader and Minecraft version build. MinecraftHub links to that page rather than hosting the file.
