Chef's Delight is an add-on for Farmer's Delight that adds two villager professions, Cook and Chef. It runs on Fabric, NeoForge and Forge, and it must be installed on both sides of a multiplayer setup. The Chef's Delight mod is small in scope: new jobs, new trades and new village buildings.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.21 to 1.21.1 require Farmer's Delight Refabricated; some builds for 1.18.2 to 1.20.1 require [Deprecated] Farmer's Delight [Fabric].
  • NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21.1. The newest build needs no dependencies.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 1.20.1. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.18.2 to 1.20.1 require Farmer's Delight.

The Cook and Chef professions

  • Cook: a villager needs a Skillet to become a Cook. The Cook trades simple food.
  • Chef: a villager needs a Cooking Pot to become a Chef. The Chef trades advanced foods.

Village structures and config

The mod generates houses for both professions inside villages. Savanna villages get Chef houses, and snowy villages get Cook houses. Generation is tuned per biome and set low by default, so a village will not always contain one.

  • Forge: chefsdelight-common.toml in the config folder.
  • Fabric: chefsdelightconfig.properties in the config folder.

Compatibility with village mods

Repurposed Structures, which has Forge and Fabric releases, pairs with a separate Chef's Delight compatibility datapack. ChoiceTheorem's Overhauled Village (CTOV) has its own Chef's Delight compatibility pack. Install the matching pack alongside either mod so the houses still appear. The creator also suggests pairing it with Visiting Villagers for livelier villages.

To install, match the file to your loader, add Farmer's Delight where your build needs it (the list above shows which), and drop both files into the mods folder. The guides on installing mods on Java cover the steps.

Questions about Chef's Delight.

4 questions

What does Chef's Delight add?

It adds two villager professions to Farmer's Delight, Cook and Chef. A Skillet turns a villager into a Cook who trades simple food, and a Cooking Pot makes a Chef who trades advanced foods. It also generates matching houses in villages.

Does Chef's Delight need Farmer's Delight?

Chef's Delight is an add-on for Farmer's Delight. The newest build on each loader lists no required dependencies, while some older builds do require Farmer's Delight or a Fabric port of it, as the loaders and versions list states. Check the build you download against that list.

How do I stop Chef's Delight houses from generating?

Open the config file and set the structure generation number to 0. Forge uses chefsdelight-common.toml, and Fabric uses chefsdelightconfig.properties. Raising the number instead makes the houses appear more often in villages.

Does Chef's Delight work with village overhaul mods?

A compatibility datapack exists for Repurposed Structures, and a separate compatibility pack exists for ChoiceTheorem's Overhauled Village. Install the matching pack with the village mod so Chef's Delight houses still generate.
