Default Skill Trees is a Minecraft Java mod and datapack that adds default skill trees for Pufferfish's Skills. It runs on Fabric, NeoForge and Forge, and it must be present on the server, while clients can join without it. Install it when you want Pufferfish's Skills to have something to unlock from the first minute.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric and NeoForge: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 26.2. The newest build requires Pufferfish's Attributes and Pufferfish's Skills.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 1.21.8. The newest build requires Pufferfish's Attributes and Pufferfish's Skills.
What the two trees do
The pack adds two trees that raise abilities and hand out various bonuses. Those bonuses use custom attributes from Pufferfish's Attributes, so that mod has to be installed alongside it.
- Combat tree. Points and experience come from killing mobs.
- Mining tree. Points and experience come from mining stone and ores.
Two ways to install it
The mod is a datapack bundled as a mod, because most players find mods easier to install than datapacks. Both routes give the same two trees. For the mod route, follow the guide to installing Java mods and place the file for your loader in the mods folder next to the required libraries.
- 1.Pick a route. The mod comes as a file for Fabric, NeoForge or Forge, and a plain datapack build also exists.
- 2.Put the files on the server. Clients may join without them.
Questions about Default Skill Trees.
4 questions
Does Default Skill Trees work without Pufferfish's Skills?
No. Default Skill Trees only supplies skill trees made for Pufferfish's Skills. The trees also use custom attributes from Pufferfish's Attributes, so that mod has to be installed as well.
Is Default Skill Trees a mod or a datapack?
Both. It is a datapack that is also bundled as a mod for Fabric, NeoForge and Forge, since mods are easier for most players to install. The content is identical, so choose whichever route suits your setup.
Do players need Default Skill Trees on a multiplayer server?
It is required on the server. Clients can join without it, though having it installed on the client is optional. The mod and datapack routes both carry the same two trees for combat and mining.
How do I earn points in Default Skill Trees?
Points and experience arrive through play. In the combat tree, they come from killing mobs. In the mining tree, they come from mining stone or ores. The pack describes these two sources only, and the trees raise abilities and provide various benefits.
