Gamma Utils is a fullbright mod for Java that pushes brightness far beyond the in-game slider, so nights look like day and caves look fully lit. It ships for Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt and runs on the player's own side only. Dedicated hosts are not supported.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.14.4 to 26.3. The newest build requires Cloth Config API and Fabric API, optionally Mod Menu; builds for 1.14.4 to 1.18.2 require Fabric API.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 26.1 to 26.3. The newest build requires Cloth Config API.
- Quilt: Minecraft 1.18 to 1.21.11. The newest build requires Cloth Config API and Fabric API, optionally Mod Menu; builds for 1.18 to 1.18.2 require Fabric API.
Controls and commands
- G toggles between 100% and 1500% gamma (or use /gamma toggle).
- H toggles night vision on or off, handled entirely on your side (or /gamma nightvision).
- Arrow up and arrow down raise and lower gamma by a step, 10% by default.
- /gamma set, /gamma min and /gamma max jump straight to a value or to the configured limits.
Configuration
Defaults are 100% when off and 1500% when on, with limits of -750% and 1500%. Smooth transition softens the switch at a configurable speed, and an optional status effect reminds you when gamma sits outside the normal range. You can also have the toggle remember your last custom value, or reset gamma when the game closes. Options live in a config file, and Mod Menu lets you edit them in game. Cloth Config API is what makes the config work.
Installation
Pick the file that matches your loader and Java release, then place it and every required library in the mods folder. Launch with that loader's profile. Our guide to installing mods on Java covers the steps if this is your first time.

How do I turn on fullbright with Gamma Utils?
Press G to switch between the default 100% gamma and the toggled 1500% value. Press H to toggle client-side night vision. Both keys can be rebound, and the same actions are available through the /gamma toggle and /gamma nightvision commands.
Does Gamma Utils work with shaders?
High gamma does not work in combination with shaders. Night vision does work with at least some shaders, so use the H toggle instead of raising gamma when a shader pack is running. Results vary by shader pack.
Can I change the gamma limits in Gamma Utils?
Yes. The config holds a minimum limit of -750% and a maximum of 1500% by default, plus a step size of 10%. Turning off the limit check removes the enforced range. Edit these in the config file or through Mod Menu.
