Health Indicators is a Fabric and NeoForge mod that draws a floating health bar above mobs and other players. It also offers an optional armor indicator and an attack direction indicator. The mod runs on the player's own install only. A Quilt release exists but stopped after May 2024.

What the indicator shows
The bar reads like the vanilla hearts and changes with the target's status effects. Each of these can be switched off in the config.
- Green hearts when the entity is poisoned, black when it is withering.
- Separate yellow hearts for absorption.
- A vibrating bar while the entity has regeneration.
- Different textures for hardcore.
- Hearts or a plain number, with an option to show health as a percentage.
Filters and configuration
Most of the value is in the filters. You can show bars by category (hostile, passive, players, yourself), by entity type such as `minecraft:pig`, or by player name. You can also limit them to entities you have attacked, entities that are damaged, entities you are looking at, or entities within a set distance. Size and offset are adjustable, and a blacklist hides specific mobs or players.
Default keys are Left Arrow to toggle the indicator, Up and Down Arrow to move it, Right Arrow to override filtering, Right Shift for the armor indicator and I to open the config. All of them can be rebound under Options > Controls > Keybinds.
Installing Health Indicators
Questions about Health Indicators.
4 questions
Can I use Health Indicators when joining a multiplayer world?
The mod is required on your own install and is not supported on the host side, so leave it out of any host-side mods folder. Put the file in the mods folder of your own install, alongside any dependencies listed for your release, and launch with the loader's profile.
How do I open the Health Indicators config?
Press I by default while in a world. The same menu lets you change the indicator type, size, offset and filters. If the key clashes with another mod, rebind it under Options, Controls, Keybinds, where every key of the mod is listed.
Can I show health only for mobs I have hit?
Yes. The filters can limit bars to entities you have attacked, entities that are damaged, entities you are looking at, or entities within a set distance. You can also hide categories such as passive mobs, or blacklist specific mobs and players by name.
Which loaders does Health Indicators support?
Current releases cover Fabric and NeoForge. A Quilt release exists, but builds for it stopped after May 2024, so treat Quilt as unmaintained. Pick the file that matches your loader and the release you play, since each loader has its own ranges.
