Just Hammers is a Java mod for Fabric and NeoForge that adds area-mining hammers, in iron, gold, diamond and netherite. Each tier widens the area a single swing clears, from 3x3x1 up to 5x5x5. It has to be installed on both sides, so a multiplayer host and every player who joins need it.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API; some builds for 1.18.2 to 1.21.8 require Fabric API and Architectury API.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.19.2 to 26.3. The newest build requires Nanite Library; some builds for 1.21.1 to 26.2 need no dependencies; some builds for 1.19.2 to 1.21.8 require Architectury API.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 1.20.4, builds stopped after March 2025. The newest build requires Architectury API.
What the hammers do
- Four materials, each with tiers that grow the mined area. The smallest is 3x3x1 and the largest is 5x5x5.
- Durability scales with the tier.
- Hammers never shatter. They stop at 1 durability and can be repaired in an anvil.
- Tooltips state what each hammer does, so you do not need to memorise the sizes.
- Textures are by Rid.
Installing Just Hammers
- 1.Install Fabric or NeoForge for the matching Minecraft release. The mod install guide covers the basics.
- 2.Get the Just Hammers file for your loader, plus the libraries listed in the loaders section above. Fabric players need Fabric API at minimum.
- 3.Put every file in the mods folder and launch the loader's profile.
Trade-offs and known issues
The hammers are a focused feature set. They mine, and nothing more. The area can sometimes shift in an odd direction, because block breaking is calculated from the player's look vector. Vein miner style mods also work alongside the hammers, which can stack effects you did not expect.

Does Just Hammers need to be installed on both sides?
Yes. The mod is required on both the client side and the server side. A multiplayer host and every connecting player need Just Hammers installed, along with the libraries its loader build requires. The Fabric and NeoForge builds each list their own dependencies, so check the loaders section on this page.
Can Just Hammers hammers break?
No. A hammer wears down to 1 durability and stops there instead of being destroyed. You can then repair it in an anvil. Durability also scales with tier, so larger hammers last longer before they need repair.
How big an area can a hammer mine?
The smallest hammers mine a 3x3x1 area. Higher tiers grow through 3x3x3 and 5x5x3, finishing at 5x5x5. The materials are iron, gold, diamond and netherite, and tooltips in the game describe what each hammer covers.
Does Just Hammers work on Forge?
Forge releases exist, but they stopped after March 2025, so Forge is no longer receiving updates. Fabric and NeoForge are the loaders with current releases. Pick one of those for new worlds and newer Minecraft releases.
