Ksyxis is a server-side mod for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt that speeds up world loading by removing chunks most players never need. It runs on dedicated servers and in singleplayer. It does nothing for you when you join someone else's multiplayer server. The newest release asks for no other mods.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.8 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What Ksyxis removes
Older releases of the game keep spawn chunks loaded in the background, and newer ones load an area around the player on join. Ksyxis disables these chunks entirely. How much you gain depends on the game release you play.
- 1.8 to 1.20.4 (extreme effect): a 21x21 area of spawn chunks is no longer kept loaded in the background.
- 1.20.5 to 1.21.8 (low effect): a 5x5 area of spawn chunks is no longer kept loaded.
- 1.21.9 and newer (insignificant effect): a 7x7 area around the player is not loaded on join, and the fake 500ms delay when creating a singleplayer world is gone.
Installation
Pick the file for your loader and drop it into the mods folder, as covered in how to install mods on Java Edition. One file serves every supported loader. For a dedicated server, put it in the server's mods folder.
Who benefits
Ksyxis is aimed at low-end machines. On a fast PC the gain may be too small to notice, especially on recent releases where the effect is listed as insignificant. The real payoff is on 1.20.4 and older, where the constantly loaded spawn area is large. Removing the mod later leaves your worlds intact.

Questions about Ksyxis.
4 questions
Does Ksyxis work on multiplayer servers?
It works on the server you host and in singleplayer. When you join someone else's multiplayer server, installing it on your own side changes nothing, because it has no effect on the client in multiplayer. Modrinth lists the mod as server required and client unsupported, so it belongs on the machine that runs the world.
Do I need Fabric API to use Ksyxis?
No. The newest release requires no other mods on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt. Older Forge releases may need a Mixin provider, and the mod reports a missing Mixin message when that is the case, so check that message first.
Why does Ksyxis not seem to speed anything up?
The effect can be invisible on high-end PCs, because the mod is designed mainly for low-end devices. On 1.21.9 and newer the listed effect is insignificant. The biggest gains come from older releases that kept a large spawn area loaded.
Is it safe to remove Ksyxis from a world?
The creator states that deleting the mod leaves your worlds fine. Removing it simply brings the spawn chunks back. That is also the way to restore any farm or contraption that depended on them.
