Chunky Offline is an add-on for Chunky that generates chunks while no players are online, so the world grows without anyone typing a command. It ships as mod files for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and as a plain datapack. It is required on the host side, while installing it on joining players' machines is optional.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.3. The newest build requires Chunky.
What it does
The process starts by itself when Chunky Offline loads.
Install it as a mod or a datapack
- 1.Install Chunky first, for the same loader and Minecraft release you plan to run.
- 2.Mod route: put the Chunky Offline file for your loader in the mods folder, then start with that loader's profile.
- 3.It also requires Chunky.
- 4.Start the world. Generation begins on its own once nobody is online.
Commands and settings
- `/function chunky_offline:config/set {"radius":10000,"x":0,"z":0}` changes the radius and centre.
- `/function chunky_offline:config/global_messages/` turns global messages on or off.
- `/function chunky_offline:chunky/pause`, `resume` and `cancel` control a running job.
- `/function chunky_offline:chunky/force_start` restarts the process, and is only needed after you cancelled it by hand.
Questions about Chunky Offline.
4 questions
Do I need to run commands for Chunky Offline to work?
No. The process starts automatically when Chunky Offline loads and generates chunks whenever no players are online. Commands exist only to change the radius and centre, mute global messages, or pause, resume and cancel a running job.
What are the default settings of Chunky Offline?
The default radius is 10000 and the centre is 0 0. You can change both with the chunky_offline:config/set function, passing radius, x and z values in the command.
Does Chunky Offline work without Chunky?
No. It is an extension of Chunky, and every release lists Chunky as a requirement. Install Chunky for your loader first, then add Chunky Offline as a mod file or as the datapack.
How do I restart Chunky Offline after cancelling it?
Run the force_start function under chunky_offline:chunky. It is meant only for the case where you cancelled the process manually. Otherwise the job starts by itself when Chunky Offline loads.
