LibJF

A shared code library behind JFronny's smaller mods, covering config screens, resource manipulation, networking and translation. Most players install it only because another mod asks for it.

LibJF is a library mod for Fabric and NeoForge by JFronny, made to hold the common components of his smaller mods. It adds no gameplay of its own. If a mod comes from JFronny, it generally requires LibJF or ships parts of it, which is why most players meet it as a dependency. It is optional on either side.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric: Minecraft 1.16.5 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Fabric API.
  • NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21.1 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.

What LibJF provides

  • A full config system with screens, commands, compile-time code generation, presets and verifiers.
  • A framework for manipulating loaded data and resources.
  • Utility code for serialization, script loading, co-processes and IO.
  • Network utilities, including an HTTP client and server.
  • A configurable, extensible translation system that supports several providers.
  • Helpers for early initialization and ASM patching.

Tags for data packs

Two item tags ship with the library and work in data packs. Anything tagged `libjf:shulker_boxes_illegal` cannot be placed inside shulker boxes, which suits backpacks and similar storage items. An entity wearing only armor tagged `libjf:overpowered` becomes invulnerable.

Installation

Install the loader that matches your target first, using the guide for Fabric or NeoForge. Then put the LibJF file in the mods folder next to the mod that needs it, and start the loader's profile. The general steps are in how to install mods on Java. On Fabric, Fabric API is an optional companion.

Questions about LibJF.

4 questions

What is LibJF used for?

LibJF is a shared library for JFronny's smaller mods. It supplies a config system with screens and commands, resource and data manipulation, network utilities, a translation system and early-initialization helpers. Players usually install it only because another JFronny mod lists it as a requirement.

Which loaders does LibJF support?

LibJF has files for Fabric and NeoForge. Both are current, and neither has stopped receiving updates. A file only works with the loader it was made for, so pick the one that matches your profile and the mod that depends on it.

Does LibJF need Fabric API?

No. The newest Fabric file requires no dependencies, and Fabric API is only optional. The NeoForge file also requires nothing. You can install LibJF on its own, then add Fabric API if another mod in your setup already uses it.

Do I need LibJF on both sides of a multiplayer setup?

LibJF is optional on either side, so it does not force itself onto players or hosts. Mods that depend on it are what decide where it must be present, so follow the requirements of the specific JFronny mod you install.
