| Environment | Client, Server |
Macaw's Fences and Walls adds vanilla-styled fences, walls and gates to Java play. It runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and it is required on both the player's side and the host's side in multiplayer.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API; some builds for 1.21.11 to 26.1.2 need no dependencies.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.16.5 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.4 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it adds
The pitch is simple. Vanilla offers few fence, wall and gate styles, so this mod fills the gap while keeping the original look.
The author says more content will follow in future updates and reads every suggestion.
Installation
- 1.Pick the loader you play on and match the release to your game release. The Fabric, Forge and NeoForge files are separate.
- 2.On Fabric, install Fabric API first. Forge and NeoForge need no extra library on the newest release.
- 3.Put the mod file in the mods folder of your game directory, then launch with that loader's profile.
- 4.For multiplayer, repeat the install on the host so both sides carry the same mod.
Trade-offs
Backports to 1.15.2 and lower are very unlikely, though the author mentions a last 1.12.2 release could happen. Bug reports go to the shared MacawsModsIssues tracker on GitHub. Translations can be sent through GitHub or the Macaw's Discord.

4 questions
Does Macaw's Fences and Walls work in multiplayer?
Yes, but it must be installed on both sides.
Does Macaw's Fences and Walls need Fabric API?
On Fabric, the newest release requires Fabric API, so install it alongside the mod. Forge and NeoForge releases need no dependencies. Some Fabric files for 1.21.11 to 26.1.2 also list no dependencies, so check the file you pick.

Yes. The author allows modpack use as long as you credit the mod's authors and reference the Modrinth page. The source repository also carries an MIT licence file covering the code.
Will Macaw's Fences and Walls be backported to older releases?
A backport to 1.15.2 or lower is very unlikely according to the author. A final 1.12.2 release could happen at some point, but nothing is promised. Current builds cover Forge from 1.16.5 onward.
