Mindful Darkness is a Minecraft Java mod that adds an automatic dark mode to menus and interfaces, with no texture changes or resource packs needed. It runs on Fabric and NeoForge, while the older Forge releases are no longer updated. It is needed on the client side only.

What you can adjust
The dark mode toggles on and off from inside the game, so you can compare the result at any time. The idea of changing the font colour comes from Buuz135's Dark Mode Everywhere mod.

Choosing which textures darken
The mod does not darken every interface texture on its own. You list the affected textures in the config, using * as a wildcard. An entry can cover every namespace or a single one, and a leading ! excludes a resource. The default is textures/gui/*.png , !minecraft:textures/gui/icons.png, which covers the folder where mods usually keep their interface textures and leaves out the vanilla icons sheet.
Installation
- 1.Install Fabric or NeoForge for the Minecraft release you play.
- 2.Put the mod file and each required library from the list above into the mods folder.
- 3.Launch with the loader's profile.
- 4.Edit the texture list in the config files in .minecraft/config, or configure the mod in game through Mod Menu on Fabric.

Why is Mindful Darkness not darkening some menus?
The mod only affects textures you list in its config. The default entry covers textures/gui/*.png and skips the vanilla icons sheet. A menu from a mod that stores its textures elsewhere needs its own entry, and exclusions with ! must come after the entries that include those textures.
Does Mindful Darkness work on multiplayer servers?
It is a client-side mod and it is not supported on multiplayer hosts. You install it on your own computer, and it changes only how menus look for you.
Do I need a resource pack for Mindful Darkness?
No. The mod darkens menus and interfaces automatically, without texture changes or resource packs. You can toggle the effect in the game, pick a darkening algorithm and set the intensity.
