Moog's Nether Structures

A worldgen mod that fills the Nether with new structures made from vanilla blocks and entities, with loot and tough enemies to find. It works on the server side alone.

Moog's Nether Structures (MNS) is a worldgen mod for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge that adds new structures to the Nether. Every structure is made from vanilla blocks and entities, so the dimension keeps its original feel. It is a server-side mod, and the client is unsupported.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric and NeoForge: Minecraft 1.19 to 26.3. The newest build requires Moog's Structure Lib (moogs_structures); some builds for 1.19 to 1.21.10 need no dependencies.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.19 to 26.3. The newest build requires Moog's Structure Lib (moogs_structures); some builds for 1.19 to 1.20.4 need no dependencies.
  • Quilt: Minecraft 1.19 to 1.20.4, builds stopped after April 2024. The newest build needs no dependencies.

What it adds

Expect new places to find loot, tough enemies and small challenges as you explore. The mod works on its own, and it also pairs with the creator's main structure mod, MVS. It fits into modpacks without changing how the Nether plays.

Installation

  1. 1.Pick the file that matches your loader and Minecraft release. Setup help is in the guides for Java mods and Fabric.
  2. 2.Add Moog's Structure Lib (moogs_structures) to the mods folder if the file you chose lists it as required.
  3. 3.Put the mod file in the mods folder of the host that runs the world, then start it with the loader profile.

Configuration and trade-offs

Every aspect of the mod can be customised with datapacks. The creator publishes a config pack template with full instructions, which suits pack makers who want to tune structure behaviour. The trade-off is the extra library on current files, and the Quilt builds that stopped in April 2024. The mod only changes the Nether, so it will not touch the Overworld or the End.

Questions about Moog's Nether Structures.

3 questions

Do players need Moog's Nether Structures installed to join a world?

No. The mod can be installed on the server alone, and a client-only install is unsupported. Players joining a world that runs it will find the new Nether structures without adding anything themselves. Whoever hosts the world needs the mod file and, for current files, the Moog's Structure Lib dependency.

Can I customise Moog's Nether Structures?

Yes. Every aspect of the mod is customisable through datapacks. The creator provides a config pack template with full instructions, so you can adjust how structures behave without editing the mod itself. This is useful for modpacks that want to balance the Nether.

Does Moog's Nether Structures work with other structure mods?

It works on its own and also alongside the creator's main structure mod, MVS. The mod keeps to vanilla blocks and entities, and it is described as fitting into any modpack. It only adds structures to the Nether.
