Numismatic Overhaul is a Terraria-style currency mod from Wisp Forest for Fabric, with older Quilt builds that have since stopped. It replaces emeralds with a currency held in a purse inside your inventory and reworks how villagers trade. The mod is needed on both the client and the server.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric: Minecraft 1.18 to 1.21.1. The newest build requires Fabric API and oωo (owo-lib); some builds for 1.18 to 1.20.4 require oωo (owo-lib); some builds for 1.19 to 1.19.2 require Cardinal Components API and oωo (owo-lib); some builds for 1.18 to 1.18.2 need no dependencies.
  • Quilt: Minecraft 1.19 to 1.20.4, builds stopped after March 2024. The newest build requires oωo (owo-lib); some builds for 1.20.1 require Fabric API and oωo (owo-lib); some builds for 1.19 to 1.19.2 require Cardinal Components API and oωo (owo-lib).

How the currency works

Your purse holds all your money. Money comes from killing pillagers, from exploring the world and its ancient ruins, and from trading with villagers. Villagers now deal in currency instead of emeralds, and their trades have been rebalanced and tweaked for a more interesting trading experience. The mod's wiki on the Wisp Forest Docs site goes deeper on the mechanics.

Player shops

The Shop is an easy way to trade items between players. Opening it shows a villager-style trading screen with offers its owner configures. When another player buys something, the payment is stored inside the shop and the owner can collect it later.

Installation

  1. 1.Install Fabric for your game version, following the Fabric install guide.
  2. 2.Place the mod file and the required libraries listed above in the mods folder.
  3. 3.Put the same files on the server, since the mod is required on both sides.
  4. 4.Launch with the Fabric profile. The mod install guide covers the folder layout.

Questions about Numismatic Overhaul.

4 questions

How do I install Numismatic Overhaul?

Install Fabric for your game version, then drop the mod file and its required libraries into the mods folder and launch with the Fabric profile. The newest build needs Fabric API and oωo (owo-lib). For multiplayer, the same files must also be on the server.

Does Numismatic Overhaul work on multiplayer servers?

Yes, but it is required on both sides. Shops let players trade items with each other, and the owner can retrieve the money stored inside after a sale.

Does Numismatic Overhaul work on Forge, NeoForge or Bedrock?

No. The builds listed cover Fabric and Quilt only, and Quilt builds stopped in March 2024. Java mods cannot be loaded by Bedrock Edition, so this mod is for Java players on Fabric.

What does Numismatic Overhaul change about villagers?

Villagers trade currency instead of emeralds, and their trades have been rebalanced and tweaked for a more interesting experience. You also earn money from pillagers and exploration, and keep it in a purse in your inventory.
