Reactive Music is a reactive music mod for Java that replaces the vanilla soundtrack with dynamic, ever-changing tracks built around fantasy and celtic pieces. It runs on Fabric, NeoForge and Forge and is client-side only. CircuitLord based it on a music pack made for the Ambience mod back in 1.12, now rebuilt as a standalone mod.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.19.2 to 1.21.11. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.20 to 1.21.11 require YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL).
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21 to 1.21.1. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.21 to 1.21.1 require YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL).
- Forge: Minecraft 1.19.2 to 1.20.1. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.20 to 1.20.1 require YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL).
What it changes
The mod trades the default music for a collection of tracks meant to give an air of wonder, a whisper of the unknown and the call of adventure. The result is dynamic, reactive music in place of the standard soundtrack. The tracks come from Vindsvept, Adrian von Ziegler and Mufaya, and the creator states the music is copyright free for non-commercial use.

Installation
- 1.Install the loader that matches your release. The guides for Fabric and Forge and NeoForge cover it.
- 2.Pick the mod file for your loader and game release from the Modrinth page.
- 3.Check the file's dependency list. The creator's page says YetAnotherConfigLib is required, so add YACL to the mods folder whenever the file lists it.
- 4.Place the files in the mods folder and launch with the loader's profile.
Custom songpacks
A songpack community is active on the creator's Discord in the #songpack-releases channel. CircuitLord does not officially endorse those packs, so treat them as community work. You can also make your own songpack, with a full guide and a video tutorial from CircuitLord.
Reactive Music, a dynamic music mod
Questions about Reactive Music.
4 questions
Does Reactive Music work on multiplayer servers?
No. The mod is required on the client side and is unsupported on servers. It changes the music a player hears on their own machine, so install it locally, not on a multiplayer host.
Does Reactive Music need YetAnotherConfigLib?
It depends on the file. The newest builds on all three loaders list no dependencies, while some older builds require YACL. The creator's page still says YACL is required, so read the dependency list of the file you choose.
Which loaders does Reactive Music support?
It has builds for Fabric, NeoForge and Forge. Each loader covers its own range of game releases, and a file only runs on the loader it was made for. Pick the file that matches your loader and release.
Can I add my own music to Reactive Music?
Yes, through songpacks. The creator links a full guide and a video tutorial for making your own, and a community on Discord shares finished packs in the #songpack-releases channel.
