Remove Reloading Screen is a Fabric and NeoForge client mod for Minecraft Java that stops resource pack reloads from freezing the game. Normally, toggling a pack in the options menu or triggering a manual reload with F3+T locks out every input behind a full-screen loading bar until Minecraft finishes re-reading every pack. This mod runs that reload on a background thread instead, so you can keep moving and interacting while it finishes, and it strips the reload screen itself down to just the progress bar.

What the reload freeze is, and what changes

A resource pack reload happens any time you enable, disable, or reorder a pack, switch a setting that forces a re-read (like language or some texture options), or press F3+T. Vanilla Minecraft blocks the whole game on this: no movement, no menus, no chat, just a dirt-background progress screen until every pack finishes parsing. On a large pack or a slow drive that freeze can run for several seconds. Remove Reloading Screen moves the parsing work off the render thread so gameplay keeps running underneath it, and removes the decorative dirt background, mob head icons, and flavor text from the screen, leaving only the bar when one is shown at all.

Installing Remove Reloading Screen on Fabric and NeoForge

  1. 1.Install Fabric Loader or NeoForge for your target Minecraft version.
  2. 2.Download the matching Remove Reloading Screen build from the Modrinth project page.
  3. 3.Drop the jar into your instance's mods folder and launch.
  4. 4.Optionally install Forge Config API Port if you want an in-game settings screen; the mod works with its defaults without it.

Loader and version support

Current development only targets Fabric and NeoForge. Both reached build 5.2.8, tagged for Minecraft 26.3 and published 2026-09-17, in the same release. Forge and Quilt builds exist but stopped at Minecraft 1.20.1 in mid-2024 and have not been updated since; treat them as legacy options for older instances, not as actively maintained targets.

Dependencies and compatibility

The current Fabric and NeoForge build has no required dependency; it runs on its own. Forge Config API Port is an optional dependency that adds an in-game options screen for the mod's settings. This mod is client-side only and unsupported on dedicated servers, since the reload it changes only ever runs on the client. Its own description notes it should work alongside OptiFine, since the two do not touch the same code paths.

Questions about Remove Reloading Screen.

5 questions

What does Remove Reloading Screen actually change in Minecraft?

It moves resource pack reloading to a background thread so the game does not freeze on a full-screen loading bar every time a pack toggles, and it trims that screen down to just the progress bar when it does appear. Nothing about pack content or how packs are read changes, only when the game lets you keep playing during the reload.

Does Remove Reloading Screen work with Forge or Quilt?

There are Forge and Quilt builds, but both stopped receiving updates at Minecraft 1.20.1 in 2024. Active development only continues on Fabric and NeoForge, both currently built for Minecraft 26.3. Use a Forge or Quilt build only on an older 1.20.1 instance.

Do I need Fabric API or Cloth Config for Remove Reloading Screen?

No, not on the current Fabric or NeoForge build; it has no required dependency. Forge Config API Port is an optional add-on that unlocks an in-game settings screen. Older 1.20.1 Quilt and Forge builds needed Cloth Config API and an optional config-screen library respectively, but those builds are no longer maintained.

Is Remove Reloading Screen safe to add or remove from an existing world?

Yes. It only changes how the client displays and threads resource pack reloads, and does not touch world save data, so adding or removing it mid-game does not risk your save.

Does Remove Reloading Screen work on multiplayer servers?

It is a client-side-only mod, so it does not need to be installed on the server. Anyone who wants the smoother reload can add it to their own client without the server or other players needing it too.
