Repurposed Structures

Repurposed Structures adds biome variants of vanilla structures and features, including a Jungle Fortress. It needs no extra blocks or mobs, so it runs on the server alone.

Repurposed Structures is a worldgen mod for NeoForge and Forge that takes vanilla structures and features and spins them into new variants. It is the repurposed structures mod to reach for when exploring feels samey and you want more to find in each biome. It is needed on the server only, and players can join with vanilla.

Loaders and versions

  • NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.16.5 to 1.20.1. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.18.2 require Feature NBT Deadlock Be Gone.

What it adds

The mod places biome-specific takes on vanilla structures, with the Jungle Fortress as the headline example. Most of the content began in TelepathicGrunt's Ultra Amplified Dimension mod, then moved into its own mod once it looked right in the Overworld. Other contributors have since added more vanilla-styled structures.

It adds no new blocks or mobs, which is why a vanilla player can connect to a modded host. Its structures spawn alongside those from YUNG's Better Strongholds and YUNG's Better Mineshafts. Both sets keep generating, but Repurposed Structures keeps its own look unless you add the special datapacks for matching styles.

Configuration

From 1.18.2 onward, every structure is in datapack form. A config datapack from the creator lets you switch structures off, change spawn rates, alter mineshaft height or resize villages. A separate datapack disables the mod's advancements. Imported modded loot can be turned off in the regular config file.

  • Chests can hold banners, but only for players with the Luck effect or attribute, which vanilla cannot grant. Another mod or datapack has to supply it.
  • Translations come from a resource pack that adds new language files.
  • The creator's wiki is kept up to date with the latest releases.

Installing it

Place the .jar in the mods folder of the host that runs your world, with the matching loader installed. Our guide to installing Forge and NeoForge covers the loader step. Conflicts with other mods are described as very unlikely, since structures are added to biomes directly.

Questions about Repurposed Structures.

4 questions

Do players need Repurposed Structures installed to join a modded world?

No. The mod adds no new blocks or mobs, so it runs entirely on the server and vanilla players can connect. The client side is unsupported, which means installing it on a player's own game gives no benefit. Only the host needs the file.

How do I turn off Repurposed Structures structures?

On 1.18.2 and newer, the structures are datapacks. The creator provides a config datapack you can edit to disable individual structures or change spawn rates. A separate datapack turns off the mod's advancements. Only imported modded loot is controlled by the regular config file.

Does Repurposed Structures work with YUNG's mods?

Yes. Structures from both mods keep spawning side by side. Repurposed Structures keeps its own style, so strongholds and dungeons will not match YUNG's look unless you add the special datapacks the creator provides. Mineshafts need none, because YUNG's already has biome variants.

Is there a Fabric port of Repurposed Structures?

Yes. The creator publishes a separate Fabric and Quilt port. This page covers only the NeoForge and Forge files, so Fabric players should use the other listing rather than trying to load these files.
