Respackopts is a utility mod that gives resource packs and data packs their own config menus, on Fabric and NeoForge for Minecraft Java. Once it is installed, nothing else needs setting up for players. Both sides are optional installs.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.16.4 to 26.3. The newest build requires LibJF, optionally Mod Menu; some builds for 1.19.2 to 1.21.11 require Fabric API and LibJF; some builds for 1.21.1 to 1.21.5 require Fabric API, LibJF and Mod Menu; builds for 1.19 to 1.19.1 require Cloth Config API, Fabric API and LibJF; some builds for 1.18.2 require Cloth Config API and Fabric API; some builds for 1.18.2 require Fabric API; some builds for 1.18.2 require Mod Menu; builds for 1.16.4 to 1.18.1 need no dependencies.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21.1 to 26.3. The newest build requires LibJF, optionally Mod Menu.
What it does
The mod runs a custom system for conditional resources and resource expansion, and it integrates with fabulous shaders. Pack authors define the options, and players change them from the resource pack screen. Authors find the details in the wiki at mods.jfronny.dev/Respackopts.
- A config menu button beside each supported resource pack, with no setup for players.
- Conditional resources that switch on the options a player chose.
- Resource expansion for pack authors.
- Integration with fabulous shaders.
Installation
- 1.Install a loader for your Minecraft release. The guide to installing Fabric covers the Fabric route.
- 2.Put the Respackopts file in the mods folder, together with the dependencies your build needs. The newest builds require LibJF.
- 3.Launch with the loader profile and open the resource pack screen.
- 4.Click the menu button beside a supported pack to change its options.
Performance cost
The creator measured the overhead on 1.20.1 with Fabric, a Ryzen 5 7600X and an NVMe SSD. LibJF hooks into the resource loader and adds about five percent to resource reloading. Respackopts adds roughly six percent to reloading and eighteen percent to load times, about 0.43 seconds. Results on other setups will differ.
Questions about Respackopts.
3 questions
Is there a Forge version of Respackopts?
No Forge release is listed. Respackopts ships for Fabric, from Minecraft 1.16.4, and for NeoForge, from 1.21.1. Players on Forge need to move to one of those two loaders to use it.
Does Respackopts need LibJF?
Yes for current releases. The newest Fabric and NeoForge releases both require LibJF, and it must be added to the mods folder alongside Respackopts. Mod Menu is optional on the newest releases.
Does Respackopts slow down loading?
Slightly. The creator measured about six percent longer resource reloading and eighteen percent longer load times on 1.20.1. The pack screen is where it shows, since scanning there can cause brief freezes.
