Server Waypoint is a Minecraft Java mod for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt that keeps shared waypoints on the server and lets players browse, navigate and teleport to them. Everything server-side works for players on a vanilla client, so the client mod is optional, and it also runs in singleplayer. Plugin releases cover Paper, Folia and Purpur, and a Velocity plugin links waypoints across servers.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric and Quilt: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API, optionally Xaero's Minimap, Xaero's World Map, LuckPerms, Mod Menu and VoxelMap-Updated; some builds for 1.21 to 1.21.8 require Xaero's Minimap and Fabric API; some builds for 1.20 to 1.21.5 need no dependencies.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Xaero's Minimap, Xaero's World Map and VoxelMap-Updated.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.2 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Xaero's Minimap, Xaero's World Map and VoxelMap-Updated.
Shared waypoints in clickable chat
Waypoints live in named lists with colours, icons and descriptions. Run /wp to see them grouped by dimension and list, with distances beside each name. You can search, change the sort order and hover a place to read its description and coordinates. The detail view offers navigate, teleport and remove actions, and the server's permissions decide which ones each player gets. Messages follow each player's language setting.
Names and descriptions accept JSON text components, so each destination can carry its own colours and styles. A separate identifier stays simple for commands, and /wp edit changes the display text.
Five ways to find the way
- Compass pointing at the destination.
- Marker on the navigation map.
- Boss bar with name, direction, distance and height difference.
- Action bar with the same guidance.
- Floating label inside the world.
Use /wp navigate to switch methods or stop. All five are provided by the server, no client mod needed.
Client mod and map sync
The client mod adds a waypoint manager (Right Shift or /wp_gui), in-world markers and map integration. Shared waypoints sync to Xaero's Minimap or supported VoxelMap-Updated releases, and your own map waypoints can be uploaded to the server. Xaero's World Map menus can add or edit server waypoints.
Across a Velocity network
When an administrator enables Velocity support, /wp remote lists connected servers with availability and waypoint counts, plus an All servers option. Teleporting follows permissions. Editing a remote waypoint means joining the server that owns it.
Questions about Server Waypoint.
3 questions
Do players need the client mod to use Server Waypoint?
No. Commands, clickable chat, hover details and all five navigation methods are provided by the server, so a vanilla client works. The client mod is optional and adds a waypoint manager, in-world markers and map mod integration. It also lets you use the mod in singleplayer.
Does Server Waypoint work with Xaero's Minimap and VoxelMap?
Yes. Shared waypoints sync to Xaero's Minimap and to supported VoxelMap-Updated releases, and you can upload your own map waypoints to the server. Xaero's World Map menus can also add or edit server waypoints. These map links need the client mod installed.
Can I teleport between servers with Server Waypoint?
Yes, on a Velocity network. An administrator enables Velocity support, then players run /wp remote to browse connected servers and teleport when permissions allow. Chat browsing works without the client mod. Editing a remote waypoint requires joining the server that owns it.
