Show Me Your Skin! is a Fabric mod for Minecraft Java that hides or customizes armor rendering. It runs on the client, with optional server-side support. The exclamation mark in the name is part of it. Every feature can be toggled, and settings change on the fly.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.18.1 to 26.2. The newest build requires CICADA, Fabric API and oωo (owo-lib); some builds for 1.20 to 1.21.8 require CICADA and Fabric API; some builds for 1.18.1 to 1.20.4 require Fabric API; some builds for 1.18.2 to 1.19.2 need no dependencies.
What you can customize
- Each armor piece, plus the elytra and shield, is configured on its own.
- Invisibility and enchant glint hiding are separate switches.
- A toggle controls whether player name tags display.
- Per-player overrides let you set different rules for each person you see.
- Context-sensitive hiding returns armor to vanilla rendering for a configurable number of seconds after a player takes damage.
Multiplayer behavior
With the mod only on your client, your settings apply to every player you see, and only you see the result. Install it on a server too and it enters server mode. Your settings become visible to other players in real time, and admins can restrict which options are available.
Installation
Set up Fabric first, using the Fabric install guide. Then place the mod file and the libraries listed above in your mods folder and launch with the Fabric profile. Newer releases need three libraries, so check the list before you start.
Questions about Show Me Your Skin!.
3 questions
Does Show Me Your Skin! still support armor transparency?
No. Armor transparency options were removed in version 2.0 because the code was too brittle to maintain. You can still hide armor separately from trims and enchant glint, but you cannot set a gradual fade. Armor Hider by zannagh is the alternative the creator names for transparency.
Do I need Show Me Your Skin! on the server?
No. The mod works with client-side installation alone, and you can then configure personal settings for every player. Those settings are only visible to you. Installing it on a server adds server mode, where your settings are shared with other players in real time.
Can server admins restrict the mod's settings?
Yes. When the mod is installed on a server, admins can enforce restrictions on which settings are available to players. This applies in server mode, where each player's chosen settings are visible to everyone else on that server.
