SkyBlock Biome Islands scatters extra biome islands across a skyblock world. It runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and also ships as a plain datapack. The server side is required, and the client side is optional.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Disable Custom Worlds Advice and SkyBlock - Standard.

What the islands add

Biome islands generate about 20 chunks apart on average, with at least 8 chunks between any two. That keeps them sparse, yet common enough that every island turns up in a single world. Each of the 20 biomes was picked because it offers something hard to get by other means.

  • Overworld surface (12): badlands, birch forest, cherry grove, dark forest, desert, ice spikes, jungle, mangrove swamp, mushroom fields, savanna, sunflower plains and taiga.
  • Overworld caves (3): deep dark, dripstone caves and lush caves.
  • The Nether (4): basalt deltas, crimson forest, soul sand valley and warped forest.
  • The End (1): End Highlands, with chorus flowers.

The payoff is specific. The desert island brings sand, cacti and camels, the mushroom island brings mooshrooms and mycelium, and the deep dark island carries sculk shriekers, catalysts and sensors.

Installing as a mod or a datapack

  1. 1.Mod route: put the jar for your loader in the mods folder and launch with that loader's profile. The install guide for Java mods covers the folder and profile steps.
  2. 2.Datapack route: the plain datapack build is published alongside the loader jars, covering the same Minecraft range.
  3. 3.Pair it with SkyBlock - Standard, which the creator recommends for the base skyblock world.

The creator publishes more skyblock datapacks in a Modrinth collection, and the full documentation lives on the wiki linked from the source repository.

Questions about SkyBlock Biome Islands.

5 questions

What is SkyBlock Biome Islands?

It is a datapack and mod by BPR02 that adds extra islands to a skyblock world, each based on a biome such as desert, cherry grove, deep dark or End Highlands. Each biome was chosen to add something not easily obtainable by other means, and the islands generate about 20 chunks apart on average.

How far apart do the biome islands generate?

Biome islands generate about 20 chunks from each other on average, and never closer than 8 chunks. That makes them somewhat sparse, but common enough that you can find every biome island within a single world without much trouble.

Is SkyBlock Biome Islands a datapack or a mod?

It is published as both. Modrinth lists a plain datapack build alongside builds for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. If you already run one of those loaders, the matching jar goes in the mods folder, and the wiki linked from the repository holds the full documentation.

Does SkyBlock Biome Islands work on multiplayer servers?

Yes. The server side is required, so the host must install it, while the client side is optional. Players joining a server that runs it do not need to add anything themselves for the islands to generate.

Which skyblock world should I use with it?

The creator recommends Standard SkyBlock as the base world. It is listed as an optional dependency, so the islands can still be added without it, but it is the pairing the creator points to.
