Tool Belt is the tool belt mod for players who are tired of digging through the hotbar. It adds a wearable belt that stores your tools, built for NeoForge and Forge and tagged for both client and server. Two slots come standard, and a radial menu swaps between whatever the belt holds.
Loaders and versions
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Sewing Kit.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.12.2 to 1.20.1. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Sewing Kit.
What the belt does
- Holds any non-stackable item, with two stock slots that grow to nine when you combine the belt with tool pouches in an anvil.
- Opens a radial menu while you hold R, and the keybind can be changed.
- Supports an item whitelist for when non-stackable is not specific enough, and a blacklist for when it is too broad.
- Shows the first two slots on your player model, so your tools are visible at all times.
- Fits the belt slot of Baubles on 1.12.2 or Curios API on 1.14.4 and later, when either is installed.
With Sewing Kit installed, the recipes for making and upgrading the belt switch to a sewing mechanic. The configuration files let you keep the crafting grid and anvil recipes instead.
Installing Tool Belt
- 1.Install NeoForge or Forge for the Minecraft release you play. The Forge and NeoForge guide walks through it.
- 2.Download the file that matches both your loader and your Minecraft release from CurseForge.
- 3.Drop the file into the mods folder and launch with the loader profile. The mod installation guide covers the folder layout.
The trade-off is scope. The mod does one job, which is carrying and swapping tools.

Questions about Tool Belt.
4 questions
Does Tool Belt work on Fabric?
No. Tool Belt is a NeoForge mod that was formerly a Forge mod, and it has no Fabric build. The author has no current plans for a Fabric port. If one ever appears, it would be released as a fully separate project and clearly labelled.
How do I switch tools with Tool Belt?
Hold R to open the radial menu, then pick the tool you want. The keybind can be changed if R does not suit you.
How many tools can the belt hold?
It starts with two slots and can be upgraded to nine by combining it with tool pouches in an anvil. It accepts any non-stackable item by default. A whitelist and a blacklist let you adjust exactly what it will take.
Do I need Sewing Kit for Tool Belt?
No, Sewing Kit is optional. When it is installed, the belt and its upgrades use a sewing mechanic for crafting. You can change this in the configuration files if you prefer the crafting grid and anvil recipes.
