Tool Stats is a tool stats mod for Minecraft Java that adds extra lines to item tooltips, so you can read a pickaxe's harvest level or its mining efficiency without guessing. It runs on Fabric, NeoForge and Forge, and Quilt builds have stopped. It is required on the client and optional on the server.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric: Minecraft 1.16.5 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API and Prickle; some builds for 1.19.2 to 1.20.4 require Fabric API; some builds for 1.19.2 to 1.20.1 require Fabric API and Bookshelf; some builds for 1.18.1 to 1.19.4 require Bookshelf; some builds for 1.16.5 to 1.18.1 need no dependencies.
  • NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.2 to 26.3. The newest build requires Prickle; builds for 1.20.2 to 1.20.4 require Bookshelf.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.15.2 to 1.20.4. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.16.5 to 1.20.1 require Bookshelf.
  • Quilt: Minecraft 1.17 to 1.19.4, builds stopped after June 2023. The newest build requires Bookshelf; builds for 1.17 to 1.17.1 need no dependencies.

What the tooltips show

Darkhax made the mod configurable, so certain pieces of information can be disabled.

  • Harvest level, shown only on tiered items such as pickaxes.
  • Mining efficiency, also limited to tiered items.
  • Enchantability, shown on enchantable items while the enchantment table screen is open.
  • Tool durability, shown on tools once they are damaged.

Installing Tool Stats

  1. 1.Install Fabric, NeoForge or Forge for your Minecraft release, following the Java mod installation guide if you are new to loaders.
  2. 2.Add the mod file for that loader to your mods folder.
  3. 3.Add the libraries your loader's build needs. Newer Fabric and NeoForge builds use Prickle, while older builds for several loaders use Bookshelf.
  4. 4.Launch the loader's profile and hover over a tool in your inventory.

Trade-offs

The feature set is narrow on purpose. You get four kinds of tooltip information and nothing else, with no new items, blocks or mechanics. Players on a multiplayer world need the mod on their own side to see the extra lines. Putting it on the server as well is optional.
