World Play Time is a Java mod for Fabric and NeoForge that shows the time you have spent in a world in the top-right corner of its entry in the world selection screen. It is a player-side mod, so it only needs to sit in your own mods folder. An older Forge line exists too, but it has stopped.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.19.2 to 26.1. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.4 to 26.1. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.19.2 to 1.20.4, builds stopped after November 2024. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it shows
The mod reads the Play Time statistic that each world already keeps. That means worlds created before you installed it display a total straight away, with no reset and no new save.
That is the whole feature set, and it does nothing on a multiplayer host. If you want a mod that changes how a world plays, this is not it. If you juggle many saves and cannot remember which one eats your evenings, it answers that in one glance.
Installation
- 1.Install the loader for your release. The guides for Fabric and Forge and NeoForge cover the steps.
- 2.Pick the file on the Modrinth page that matches your loader and your release.
- 3.Put that file in the mods folder of your game directory.
- 4.Launch with the loader profile and open the world selection screen. The play time label appears on each entry.
Trade-offs
The mod is deliberately narrow. It displays a number and stops there. Forge users on older releases are stuck with the last Forge files, so anyone planning to move to a newer release should switch to NeoForge or Fabric. General steps for adding any mod are in the Java mod install guide.
Questions about World Play Time.
3 questions
Does World Play Time work on worlds I already have?
Yes. The mod reads the Play Time statistic that each world already stores, so worlds created before you installed it show a total straight away. Nothing needs to be reset or recreated. The value appears in the top-right corner of each entry in the world selection screen.
Does World Play Time work on multiplayer hosts?
No. It is a player-side mod, it is not supported on a multiplayer host, and it does nothing there. Install it only in your own mods folder, where it adds the play time label to the world selection screen and changes nothing else.
Is there a Forge release of World Play Time?
Forge files exist for older releases, but they stopped while Fabric and NeoForge continued. If you play on Forge, you can stay on the last Forge file you have, or move to NeoForge or Fabric to follow current releases of the mod.
