Corpse by henkelmax is a corpse mod for Minecraft Java that spawns a body wherever you die, holding everything you carried. It runs on NeoForge today, with older Forge builds that have stopped, and it belongs on both the client and the server. Your player skin is applied to the body, which makes it easy to spot in a cave or a ravine.
Loaders and versions
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Jade 🔍.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.12.2 to 1.20.2, builds stopped after September 2025. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Just Enough Items (JEI) and Jade 🔍.
What the corpse does
- Right-click the corpse to open it. It holds an unlimited number of items, and transferring them puts everything back into its original slots.
- Once you take every item out, the corpse disappears.
- It cannot fall into the void or burn in lava, and it floats in liquids.
- After one hour it turns into a skeleton. This marks its age and does not change how it works.
Death history
Press U to open a list of all your past deaths. Click the Location area and a teleport command with the coordinates and dimension appears in chat. Operators can inspect another player with /deathhistory followed by the player name.
Configuration
The config covers who may open a corpse and when it goes away. You can restrict access to the owner only, or let everybody open it once it has become a skeleton. Separate timers set when an empty corpse despawns, when a full one despawns, and when it turns into a skeleton. A further option makes the corpse spawn on its face.

How do I get my items back with the Corpse mod?
Walk to the corpse that spawned where you died and right-click it to open its inventory. Transferring the items returns them to their original slots, and the corpse vanishes once it is empty. The Items button in the death history screen only works in creative mode.
How do I see where I died?
Press U to open the death history screen, which lists your past deaths. Clicking the Location area displays the teleport command in chat, including the coordinates and the dimension of the death location.
Can I check another player's deaths?
Yes, if you are an operator. Type /deathhistory followed by the player's name to view that player's death history. Regular players can only view their own deaths through the U key.
Does the corpse disappear after a while?
After one hour the corpse turns into a skeleton, but it still works the same way. Despawn timers for empty and full corpses are set in the config, and the corpse cannot fall into the void or burn in lava.
