XNet is a logistics mod for NeoForge and Forge built around a single networking cable. That one cable carries items, fluids, energy and information, so you stop juggling a separate pipe type for each. It is tagged for both sides, so a multiplayer host and every player need it installed.
Loaders and versions
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21.1. The newest build requires McJtyLib and RFTools Base, optionally The One Probe.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.14.4 to 1.20.1. The newest build requires McJtyLib and RFTools Base, optionally The One Probe.
One cable, one controller
Transport through XNet is instant. The mod's focus is efficiency and flexibility, and the efficiency claim is concrete: two chests joined by a cable 12,000 blocks long were tested with no lag.
Flexibility comes from the controller. It lets you configure how information and resources are distributed across the network, rather than simply dumping everything down one line.
Installing XNet
- 1.Install NeoForge or Forge for the matching release, following the Forge and NeoForge setup guide.
- 2.Place the XNet file in the mods folder inside your .minecraft directory, together with McJtyLib and RFTools Base.
- 3.Add The One Probe too if you want it, since XNet lists it as optional.
- 4.Launch with the loader's profile. The general steps are in the mod installation guide.

Questions about XNet.
3 questions
Does XNet cause lag on large networks?
The creator built XNet for efficiency. Cables are not tile entities, and a test with two chests joined by a cable 12,000 blocks long ran with no lag. The controller block handles the flexible configuration of how information is distributed across the network.
Does XNet work on multiplayer worlds?
Yes. The files are tagged for both sides, so the host and every connecting player need the mod, plus its required libraries McJtyLib and RFTools Base. The One Probe is optional. Its focus is efficiency, and a cable 12,000 blocks long was tested with no lag.
Can I use XNet on Bedrock?
No. XNet is a Java mod that needs NeoForge or Forge, and Bedrock cannot load mods in that format. Java players should install the loader that matches their release, then add the mod and its libraries to the mods folder.
