Pipez

Simple, highly configurable pipes for moving items, fluids, energy and Mekanism gas, built to stay light on tick time. Filters and upgrade tiers control what moves and how fast.

The Pipez mod adds pipes for items, fluids, energy and gas, designed to cause as little lag as possible. It runs on NeoForge, with an older Forge line whose builds have stopped, and it belongs on both sides in multiplayer.

Loaders and versions

What the pipes do

There are item, fluid and energy pipes, plus gas pipes for Mekanism. The Universal Pipe combines all four types, and tabs in its interface switch between them. Only the extracting end of a pipe holds a block entity, and pipes do not load unnecessary chunks. That is the reason the mod stays light. The creator's own comparison shows Mekanism's logistical transporters no longer moving any items at about 12,500 pipes.

  • Filters with whitelist and blacklist modes, tag filtering, several filters at once and a separate destination for each.
  • Three redstone modes and four distribution modes (round robin, nearest first, furthest first, random).
  • Three NBT matching modes: match exact, match existing, match none.
  • Five upgrade tiers, from Basic to Infinity. Infinity is not craftable by default.

Setting up a pipe

A pipe moves nothing until it is set to extract. Sneak-click the end of a connected pipe with a wrench to do that, and sneak-click again to disconnect or reconnect it. Click the extracting part to open its settings, where filters and upgrades live. Speed starts slow and rises only through upgrades, and each tier unlocks features: Basic gives redstone modes, Improved gives distribution modes, Advanced gives filter modes.

Installation

Install NeoForge for your Minecraft release (the NeoForge setup guide covers it), then place the mod file in the mods folder on every machine that joins the world. The general mod guide has the folder details. Nothing else is required, though Just Enough Items (JEI), The One Probe, Jade and Mekanism add optional integration.

The trade-off is speed: untouched pipes are slow, so expect to spend on upgrades before a network keeps up with a busy machine line.

Questions about Pipez.

4 questions

How do I make a Pipez pipe start moving items?

Pipes transfer nothing until one end is set to extract. Sneak-click the end of a connected pipe with a wrench to make it extract. Then click the extracting part to pick modes, add filters or insert upgrades. Speed only increases with higher upgrade tiers.

Does Pipez work with Mekanism?

Yes. Gas pipes are the Mekanism-linked pipe type, and filters can match gas as well as items and fluids. Mekanism is optional for the other pipe types, so Pipez loads without it.

Is Pipez less laggy than other pipe mods?

Pipez is built for low lag. Only extracting pipes have block entities, pipes avoid loading extra chunks, and rendering is efficient. The creator's tests against Mekanism's logistical transporters showed Mekanism stopping at about 12,500 pipes.

Does Pipez still work on Forge?

Forge builds stopped after August 2025, so the Forge line is no longer updated. NeoForge is the current loader and receives new builds.
