The ItemEdit plugin lets admins and creative users change vanilla item properties with commands instead of external editors. Current 3.7.10 builds cover Paper, Spigot, Folia and Purpur from Minecraft 1.8 to 26.2. It runs on the server only; players join with a normal client.
What you can edit
The main command is /itemedit (/ie). It renames items, rewrites lore with copy and paste support, hides tags and enchantments, and makes items unbreakable or glowing. It also handles potion effects and colours, leather armor and tipped arrow colours, and armor trims.
- Attributes such as armor, damage and health, plus max durability
- Custom model data and item model, for resource packs
- Food and drink properties, and wearable equipment settings
- Rarity colour, book type, compass target, axolotl and tropical fish bucket styles
- GUI editors for fireworks and banners
Saving items for shops and rewards
/serveritem (/si) gives, sells and buys saved items from the console, which suits crates, kits and server-managed custom items. /itemstorage (/is) stores your own item builds for later. ItemEdit integrates with Vault, ShopGUI+, PlaceholderAPI and MythicMobs. A developer API is available. Tab completion, hover help and more than ten message languages are included.
Installation and compatibility
Place the .jar in the plugins folder and restart, as covered in how to install plugins on a Minecraft server. The newest builds on Paper, Spigot, Folia and Purpur require no other plugin.
The trade-off is scope. ItemEdit edits items and stores them, while executable commands on item use and potion effects on armor come from the separate ItemTag plugin.

Questions about ItemEdit.
5 questions
How do I install the ItemEdit plugin?
Download the .jar and put it in the plugins folder of your server, then restart. It works on Paper, Spigot, Folia and Purpur. Players do not install anything and join with a normal client. The newest builds need no other plugin.
Which Minecraft versions does ItemEdit support?
The current 3.7.10 builds for Paper, Spigot, Folia and Purpur list Minecraft 1.8 to 26.2. The older Bukkit build stopped at 3.6.3 and covers 1.8 to 1.21.4, so it is not the one to pick for new servers.
Does ItemEdit work on Folia?
Yes. Folia has its own build line, and version 3.7.10 lists Minecraft 1.8 to 26.2 for it. Like the other current builds, it requires no additional plugin to run on the server.
What commands does ItemEdit add?
There are three main commands. /itemedit (or /ie) customizes items, for example renaming them, changing lore and hiding enchantments. /serveritem (or /si) gives, sells and buys saved items from the console, and /itemstorage (or /is) stores and retrieves your own item builds.
Is ItemEdit free and open source?
Yes. The source is on GitHub under the GNU General Public License version 3, and the plugin is free to download. It has a developer API and links a wiki and an issue tracker for support.
