Player Heads is a player heads plugin for Bukkit, Paper and Spigot servers, published by Mosaic Collective with TomMustBe12 as developer. One command, `/playerhead`, gives you the head of any Java username with the correct skin texture. It runs on the server only, and players join with a normal client.
Server software and versions
- Bukkit, Paper and Spigot: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it does
The plugin fetches the skin texture from Mojang's API and returns a player head item carrying it. The target does not need to have joined your server. Any valid Java username works. There is no config file and nothing to tune, which keeps it a good fit for admins who want one job done and nothing else.
If the name is invalid or the texture fetch fails, you get either a plain player head or an error message. The server needs outbound internet access to reach the API.
Installation and setup
- 1.Place the plugin file in the plugins folder and restart the server. The plugin install guide covers the steps.
- 2.Grant yourself the permission, or be an operator. With LuckPerms that is `/lp user YourName permission set playerhead.give true`.
- 3.Run `/playerhead Notch` to receive that player's head.
Commands and permissions
- `/playerhead <username>` gives you the head of the named player.
- `playerhead.give` allows the command. It defaults to operators only.
Questions about Player Heads.
4 questions
How do I install the Player Heads plugin?
Place the plugin file in the plugins folder of your Paper, Spigot or Bukkit server and restart it. Players do not install anything and join with a normal client. After the restart, an operator can run /playerhead followed by a username to receive that player's head.
Can players without OP use Player Heads?
Yes, once you grant them the playerhead.give permission. By default only operators have it. Without the permission, the command is unavailable to regular players.
Does Player Heads work for players who have never joined the server?
Yes. The plugin fetches the skin texture from Mojang's API by username, so any valid Java username works whether or not that player has joined your server. The server needs internet access to reach the API.
Does Player Heads need a config file?
No. It needs no additional setup or config. Install it, grant the permission if non-operators should use it, and run the command. The newest release also requires no other plugins.
