Craftable Invisible Frames is a server plugin that lets survival players craft and place invisible item frames. It runs on Paper, Folia, Purpur, Spigot and Bukkit, and only the server needs it. It is a fork of Survival Invisiframes, maintained by WasteLand Origin.
Server software and versions
- Folia: Minecraft 26.1.2 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- Paper and Purpur: Minecraft 1.13 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- Bukkit and Spigot: Minecraft 1.13 to 26.1.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
How the recipe works
An invisible item frame is crafted like a tipped arrow. Put one lingering invisibility potion in the centre of the grid and surround it with eight item frames. On 1.17 and later, combining an invisible frame with a glow ink sac makes a glowing invisible frame.
Permissions and commands
Placing and crafting are enabled for everyone by default through craftableinvframes.place and craftableinvframes.craft. Every command needs craftableinvframes.cmd plus its own node, so a permissions plugin is only needed if you want to hand out commands.
- /iframe or /iframe get gives you an invisible item frame (craftableinvframes.get).
- /iframe give gives another player one (craftableinvframes.give).
- /iframe reload reloads the config (craftableinvframes.reload).
- /iframe force-recheck rechecks loaded invisible frames to add or remove slimes manually (craftableinvframes.forcerecheck).
- /iframe setitem sets the recipe's centre item to the item you hold (craftableinvframes.setitem).
Installation and configuration
Place the plugin file in the plugins folder of a supported server and restart it. The plugin installation guide covers the steps. Players install nothing and join as usual.
The config holds the glow toggle, the recipe's centre item, the names of both frame types and every chat message. Changing the centre item with /iframe setitem is safer than editing the item data by hand. The plugin has a narrow job, and the config reflects that.
Questions about Craftable Invisible Frames.
4 questions
How do I craft an invisible item frame with this plugin?
Place a lingering potion of invisibility in the middle of the crafting grid and surround it with eight item frames. The recipe works like tipped arrows. On 1.17 and later, adding a glow ink sac to an invisible frame gives a glowing invisible frame. Admins can change the centre item with /iframe setitem.
Do players need to install anything to use invisible frames?
No. Only the server needs the plugin, and players join with their normal setup. Crafting and placing are enabled for everyone by default through the place and craft permissions, so a permissions plugin is optional unless you want to restrict them or give out commands.
Does Craftable Invisible Frames work on Folia?
Yes. Folia is among the supported server software, alongside Paper, Purpur, Spigot and Bukkit. Spigot and Bukkit builds stopped earlier than the Paper, Purpur and Folia builds, so newer Minecraft releases need one of those three.
Why are my invisible item frames still visible?
With item-frames-glow set to true, which is the default, empty invisible frames glow and show up until an item is placed in them. Set it to false in the config and run /iframe reload to apply the change.
