PowerRanks is a rank-based permission manager for Paper, Spigot, Purpur, and Bukkit servers. It lets admins build unlimited ranks with their own prefixes, suffixes, and chat colors, assign temporary or permanent ranks to players, and control permissions through commands, config files, or a browser-based web editor instead of a separate permissions plugin.
How ranks, prefixes, and permissions work
Each rank carries its own permission nodes, chat prefix and suffix, and name color, and a player can hold more than one rank at once. The default install ships four ranks, Member, Moderator, Admin, and Owner, which can be renamed, deleted, or added to freely. Ranks support weighted inheritance chains and temporary assignments, so a server can hand out a rank that expires automatically instead of tracking removals by hand.
Installing PowerRanks on Paper or Spigot

Vault and PlaceholderAPI integration
PowerRanks does not need any other plugin to run its own permission system, but it registers with Vault's Permission and Chat providers when Vault is installed, the same way LuckPerms does. That lets economy, shop, and chat plugins written against Vault read a player's PowerRanks rank and prefix automatically, with no PowerRanks-specific setup. PowerRanks also exposes PlaceholderAPI placeholders, so scoreboards and chat formatting plugins that read PlaceholderAPI variables can display rank data directly.
Supported server software and Minecraft versions
PowerRanks runs on Paper, Spigot, and Purpur up to Minecraft 1.21.1, the version its current 1.10.10 build targets across all three. The separate Bukkit build is older and stops at Minecraft 1.20.4, released in December 2023. Purpur has shipped one fewer build than Paper and Spigot even though it reaches the same 1.21.1 ceiling. There is no Folia, Velocity, or BungeeCord build; PowerRanks is a Bukkit-family server plugin only, not a proxy plugin.
PowerRanks versus other rank and permission plugins
PowerRanks bundles rank storage, prefixes, and permission checks into one plugin with its own web editor, where LuckPerms focuses on permissions alone and expects a separate chat plugin such as EssentialsX for prefixes to show up elsewhere. That makes PowerRanks a simpler single-plugin option for a smaller server, at the cost of the wider ecosystem and more frequent updates LuckPerms has behind it.
