What SlimeRanks works with.
| Platform | Java Edition |
|---|---|
| Loaders | Folia, Paper, Purpur |
| Minecraft versions | 1.21, 1.21.11 |
SlimeRanks is a rank plugin for Paper, Folia and Purpur. It lets server owners design their own ranks and show them in the tab list, in chat and above players' heads. It runs on the server only, so players join with a normal client and install nothing.
Server software and versions
- Folia and Purpur: Minecraft 1.21.4 to 1.21.11. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally MiniPlaceholders, LuckPerms and PlaceholderAPI.
- Paper: Minecraft 1.21 to 1.21.11. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally MiniPlaceholders, LuckPerms and PlaceholderAPI.
What the SlimeRanks plugin does
Each rank gets its own name, colour and style, and there is no cap on how many you create. Formatting uses MiniMessage, including HEX colours. A rank can also carry a custom texture or image as an icon, which appears in chat, the tab list and on the nametag.
- Choose where each rank shows, for example only in tab and chat.
- Set tablist priority to control the order players appear in.
- Nametags are hidden when a player is vanished or invisible.
- Every message can be translated, and formats and mechanics are configurable.
- Ranks are assigned through direct permissions or permission groups.
Installation
- 1.Put the plugin file in the plugins folder of your server.
- 2.Restart the server to load it.
- 3.Create and tune your ranks in the in-game GUI or in the configuration files.

Commands and permissions
The command set is small and every command needs the slimeranks.admin permission.
- /slimeranks about shows information about the plugin.
- /slimeranks gui opens the screen for managing all ranks.
- /slimeranks help lists the available commands.
- /slimeranks reload reloads the configuration.
Because ranks follow permissions, pairing it with LuckPerms lets you hand out ranks through permission groups. The plugin does not require it.
Questions about SlimeRanks.
4 questions
Does SlimeRanks work on Folia?
Yes. SlimeRanks lists Folia alongside Paper and Purpur as supported server software. Folia and Purpur are covered from Minecraft 1.21.4 to 1.21.11, while Paper reaches back to 1.21. The newest release needs no other plugin to run.
Do players need to install SlimeRanks?
No. SlimeRanks runs on the server only, and the client is unsupported. Players join with a normal client and see the ranks in the tab list, in chat and above their heads once the plugin is loaded.
Does SlimeRanks need LuckPerms?
No. The newest release has no required dependencies. LuckPerms, PlaceholderAPI and MiniPlaceholders are optional. Ranks can be assigned through direct permissions or permission groups, so LuckPerms is useful for groups but not mandatory.
Which commands does SlimeRanks have?
There are four, all behind the slimeranks.admin permission. /slimeranks about shows plugin information, gui opens the rank management screen, help lists commands, and reload reloads the configuration after you edit files.
