| Minecraft versions | 1.21, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2 |
Trade Cycle is a trade cycle plugin for Folia, Paper and Spigot servers, written in Kotlin by S42. It lets players cycle through a villager's trades from the trading UI, an idea taken from henkelmax's Trade Cycling mod. It runs on the server only, so players join with a normal client and install nothing.
Server software and versions
- Folia: Minecraft 1.21.4 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- Paper and Spigot: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
How cycling works
Two methods are available, and you choose which ones are active.
- 1.Press F (the default). Use the key bound to swapping items into the offhand. The cursor has to be inside the inventory, a limit that comes from Minecraft itself.
- 2.Shift right click. Shift right-click the villager to cycle. This method is off by default.
Configuration
One setting matters, the strategy list. KEYBOARD is active by default, and SHIFT_INTERACT is commented out. Remove the # in front of a method to enable it, or add one to disable it. Use both if you want both.
SHIFT_INTERACT was made with Bedrock players in mind, so they can cycle trades through Geyser. The trade-off is that this method does not work from inside the UI.
Installation
Put the plugin file in the plugins folder of your server and restart it. The plugin install guide covers the steps for Paper and Spigot. The creator advises taking the newest release unless it is marked unstable.
Questions about Trade Cycle.
4 questions
How do I cycle villager trades with Trade Cycle?
Open the trading screen and press the key bound to swapping items into the offhand, F by default, with the cursor inside the inventory. You can also enable shift right click on the villager in the config, which is off by default.
Why can't I cycle a villager's trades?
Cycling does not work on a villager that has no profession or one that has already been traded with. If neither applies, check that the cursor is inside the inventory when pressing the swap key.
Does Trade Cycle work for Bedrock players?
Partly. The shift right click method was designed for Bedrock players connecting through Geyser, so they can cycle trades. It does not work from inside the trading UI, and it is disabled until you enable it in the config.
Do players need to install anything for Trade Cycle?
No. It is a server-side plugin, so only the server needs it. Players join with a normal client and use the F key or shift right click once the server has it running.
