Velocitab is a TAB list plugin built for Velocity proxy networks. Rather than configuring the player list separately on every backend server, network admins install Velocitab once on the proxy and control headers, footers, sorting, and per-server name formatting network-wide. It supports Minecraft Java servers from 1.8.9 through current 1.21.x releases.
How to install Velocitab on a Velocity proxy
- 1.Download the Velocitab jar from its Modrinth project page.
- 2.Drop the jar into the plugins folder of your Velocity proxy, not the backend servers.
- 3.Restart the proxy to generate Velocitab's default configuration files.
- 4.Edit the generated config to set TAB group formats, sort order, and header or footer text.
- 5.Reload or restart the proxy to apply the changes network-wide.
Permissions and optional integrations
Velocitab reads permission groups through LuckPerms when it is present on the network, so rank-based TAB formatting follows the same groups admins already manage. It also integrates optionally with MiniPlaceholders for richer text variable support and PAPIProxyBridge to resolve PlaceholderAPI variables from backend servers across the proxy boundary. None of these three integrations are required to run Velocitab; each adds formatting options when installed.
- LuckPerms (optional): drives permission-group-based TAB formatting.
- MiniPlaceholders (optional): expands available text variable syntax.
- PAPIProxyBridge (optional): bridges PlaceholderAPI variables from backend servers to the proxy.
Compatibility
Velocitab targets the Velocity proxy only; it is not built for BungeeCord, Waterfall, or a standalone Paper or Spigot server without a proxy in front of it. Because it runs on the proxy layer, it works across a mixed network of backend server versions as long as each backend server falls within Velocity's own supported version range.
Questions about Velocitab.
5 questions
How do I install Velocitab?
Download the jar from Velocitab's Modrinth page and place it in your Velocity proxy's plugins folder, then restart the proxy. Velocitab generates its configuration files on first run, which you edit to set TAB formatting, sorting, and header or footer text before reloading the proxy.
Does Velocitab work with BungeeCord or Waterfall?
No. Velocitab is built specifically for the Velocity proxy and does not support BungeeCord or Waterfall. Networks running those proxies need a different TAB list plugin built for that platform.
Does Velocitab need LuckPerms to work?
No, LuckPerms is optional. Velocitab runs without it, but when LuckPerms is installed on the network, Velocitab uses its permission groups to drive rank-based TAB list formatting automatically.
Which Minecraft versions does Velocitab support?
Velocitab's published releases list support spanning Minecraft Java 1.8.9 through current 1.21.x versions, since it operates at the Velocity proxy layer rather than tying to a single backend server version.
Is Velocitab safe to use on a multiplayer server network?
Velocitab is an open-source plugin published under the Apache License 2.0 with its source code available on GitHub. As with any proxy plugin, download it only from its Modrinth project page or GitHub release page rather than a third-party mirror.
