Hyper Realistic Sky is a Bedrock resource pack that replaces the vanilla sky with cubemap skyboxes. UsernameGeri made it as a port of the Hyper Realistic Sky pack, greatly simplified to fit Bedrock's very limited support for custom skies. It runs on Bedrock only.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 0.16 to 26.50.

What changes visually

The pack ships 18 skies, and you choose one through the subpack system.

  • Cubemap skies with various sizes of clouds.
  • Rainy skies.
  • Sandstorms and tornadoes for harsher weather.
  • Auroras.
  • Rare cloud types such as asperitas and mammatus formations.

How to install Hyper Realistic Sky

  1. 1.Get the file from the CurseForge page linked on this site.
  2. 2.Open the .mcpack or .mcaddon file with Bedrock so it imports (double-click on Windows, open with Minecraft on phones and tablets).
  3. 3.Switch the pack on in the world's settings under Resource Packs.

New to packs on Bedrock? The guide to installing add-ons on Bedrock covers each platform, and fixing add-ons that do not work helps if the pack never appears.

Known limitations

The Bedrock port is greatly simplified and changed compared with the main Hyper Realistic Sky project, because Bedrock has very limited support for custom skies.

Questions about Hyper Realistic Sky.

4 questions

How many skies does Hyper Realistic Sky include?

The pack includes 18 skyboxes. They cover clouds in several sizes, rainy skies, sandstorms, auroras, tornadoes and rare cloud types such as asperitas and mammatus. You choose between them via the subpack system.

Does Hyper Realistic Sky work on Java?

No. This page covers the Bedrock port, and add-ons and Bedrock packs are Bedrock Edition only, so Java cannot load them. The creator also has a main Hyper Realistic Sky project, which the Bedrock listing links to.

How do I switch between the different skies?

The pack offers its 18 skies through Bedrock's subpack system, so that is where you choose between them. Before that, import the .mcpack or .mcaddon file by opening it with Bedrock, then switch the pack on in the world's settings under Resource Packs.

Is Hyper Realistic Sky free?

Yes. The creator describes the pack as completely free and only offers an optional donation link. CurseForge lists no licence, so check the project page for any terms before reusing the files elsewhere.
