Round Trees is a small Java Edition resource pack that replaces every vanilla log, stem, and stripped-log model with a rounded cylinder, without touching a single texture. If you have seen a Minecraft forest online with perfectly round trunks and wondered which pack does it, this is very likely it: Round Trees has passed 3.9 million downloads on Modrinth since 2022. Creator Motschen keeps it MIT licensed and actively updated, with the current build reaching Minecraft 26.2.
What Round Trees changes
The pack only replaces geometry. Bark and end-grain textures stay exactly as vanilla ships them, so whatever texture pack is already installed keeps its look while trunks, branches, and fallen logs round out underneath it. A recent update also adjusted the model so it no longer clips through signs and buttons mounted on a trunk.
- Rounds oak, birch, spruce, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, cherry, and pale oak logs and stems.
- Covers stripped log variants and fallen or angled logs, not just upright trunks.
- Leaves every texture untouched, changing shape only, so it layers under any texture pack.
- Adds modded tree support for BYG and Luminiferous Uplands.
How to install Round Trees
- 1.Download the .zip file from the Modrinth page.
- 2.Open Minecraft, go to Options, then Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder.
- 3.Move the downloaded file into the resourcepacks folder.
- 4.Back in the resource pack menu, move Round Trees to the top of the active list, then click Done.
Supported Minecraft versions
The current release, build 8.3 from June 2026, covers Minecraft 1.20 through 26.2, the newest year.drop release at the time of writing. Round Trees has been maintained since 2022, and Modrinth keeps older builds in its version history that reach back to 1.13 for players who have not updated past that point. Grab the matching older file from the versions tab rather than the latest download if your world is on an earlier release.
Pairing with Better Leaves and shaders
Motschen also makes Better Leaves, a companion pack that bushes out leaf models, and the two are commonly run together. Because Round Trees only changes geometry, it layers cleanly under any shader pipeline and any texture pack, as long as it sits above them in the resource pack list so its models are not overridden.

Questions about Round Trees.
5 questions
What pack makes Minecraft trees round?
It is Round Trees, a free, MIT-licensed Java Edition resource pack by Motschen. It replaces vanilla log and stem models with rounded cylinders while keeping every texture the same, needs no other mods installed, and works alongside any texture pack or shader already in use.
How do I install Round Trees?
Download the .zip from the Modrinth page, open Minecraft's Options, then Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder, and drop the file into the resourcepacks folder. Back in the resource pack menu, move Round Trees to the top of the active list so its models take priority, then click Done.
Which Minecraft versions does Round Trees support?
The current build, 8.3, covers Minecraft 1.20 through 26.2, the newest year.drop release. Round Trees has shipped compatible builds since 2022, and Modrinth keeps older files in its version history for players still on releases back to 1.13.
Does Round Trees work with shaders?
Yes. Because it only changes block geometry and leaves textures untouched, it renders correctly under any shader pipeline. Motschen's own gallery shows Round Trees running with the AstraLex shader pack in a cherry grove alongside Better Leaves.
Can I use Round Trees with Better Leaves?
Yes, and it is a common pairing. Better Leaves is a separate pack from the same creator that bushes out leaf models, and running both together produces the fuller, rounded forest look shown in Round Trees' own screenshots. Neither pack requires the other to work.
