Blinking Ender Eyes is a 16x, vanilla-like resource pack for Java Edition that gives ender eyes and end portal frames a randomized blinking animation. It runs on the player's own machine only, and nothing is needed on a multiplayer host.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.11 to 26.3.

What changes visually

The pack animates the eye in two places: the ender eye item and the eyes set into end portal frames. The blinking is randomized rather than a fixed loop. The effect is deliberately creepy, which is why the pack sits under the cursed category alongside its vanilla-like one.

It also adds a blinking Heart of the Sea. Everything else keeps the default 16x look.

  • Resolution: 16x, matching the default textures.
  • Covers: ender eyes, end portal frames and the Heart of the Sea.
  • Requirements: none listed, no mods or companion packs.
  • Side: single player and client use only, dedicated hosting is unsupported.

How to install Blinking Ender Eyes

  1. 1.Get the .zip from the Modrinth page and leave it zipped.
  2. 2.In the game, open Options, then Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder, and drop the .zip into that folder.
  3. 3.Move the pack to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen.

If the pack was made for a different release than the one you run, it can still load but shows an incompatibility warning. For a walkthrough with screenshots, see how to install resource packs on Java and Bedrock.

Known limitations

The blinking is the whole point, so players who find animated eyes unsettling should skip it.

Questions about Blinking Ender Eyes.

Does Blinking Ender Eyes work on Bedrock?

No. It is a Java Edition resource pack hosted on Modrinth, and Bedrock uses a different pack format. The pack is not listed for Bedrock, so Bedrock players cannot use it.

Does Blinking Ender Eyes need any mods?

No. The listing shows no required mods or companion packs, so a plain Java install with the resource pack screen is enough. Drop the .zip in the resourcepacks folder and select it.

What does Blinking Ender Eyes change?

It adds a random, animated blinking effect to ender eyes and to the eyes in end portal frames. It also makes the Heart of the Sea blink. Other textures stay at the default 16x look.

Can I use Blinking Ender Eyes on a multiplayer host?

The pack is needed on the player's own machine only, and hosting it on a dedicated host is unsupported. Each player installs it themselves on their own machine.
