Vanilla Connected Glass is a Java resource pack for connected glass without mods. Glass blocks and panes join into one continuous surface, and the pack asks for no OptiFine, no Continuity and no loader. It works on the player's own install only.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.14 to 26.3.

How the connection works

The pack relies on vanilla cullfacing alone. A glass face is hidden whenever another block sits to its left, right, above or below. Each glass model carries thin cuboids along its borders, textured with glass edges, and a few extra cubes handle the diagonal pixels so corners stay aligned.

  • Covers glass blocks and glass panes.
  • Supports every glass colour.
  • Needs no OptiFine and no mods.
  • Pairs with any resource pack. From release 0.8 onward, place your own pack above this one.
  • Lightweight, with vanilla-only mechanics.

How to install Vanilla Connected Glass

  1. 1.Open Options, then Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder, and drop the file in.
  2. 2.Move the pack to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen.

A pack made for a different release can still load, but it shows an incompatibility warning. The install guide covers the folder steps in more detail.

Known limitations

If you accept those edges, you get connected windows and greenhouses with nothing extra to install. If you already run Continuity, Clean Connected Glass is a related pack worth comparing. The same creator also publishes Vanilla Connected Textures.

Questions about Vanilla Connected Glass.

4 questions

Does Vanilla Connected Glass need OptiFine?

No. The pack uses only vanilla cullfacing, so it needs no OptiFine, no Continuity and no other mod. Install it like any resource pack and the glass blocks and panes connect. The trade-off is that OptiFine or Continuity glass can look smoother than this method.

How do I install Vanilla Connected Glass?

Download the .zip from Modrinth, open Options, Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder, and place the file there. Back on the Resource Packs screen, move the pack to the Selected side. A pack made for a different release can still load, but it shows an incompatibility warning.

Does Vanilla Connected Glass work with other resource packs?

Yes. It is designed to be compatible with any resource pack. From release 0.8 onward, place your own pack above this one in the list.

Is Vanilla Connected Glass available for Bedrock?

No. It is a Java resource pack only, and Bedrock uses a different pack format. Players on Bedrock need a pack made for that format, as this one will not load there.
