| Minecraft versions | 1.9, 1.15.2, 1.16.5, 1.17.1, 1.18.2, 1.19.4, 1.20.6, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2 |
The Tears and Cheers ghast revamp is a vanilla-like 16x resource pack for Java that redraws the Ghast and the Happy Ghast. Ghasts received twice the texture resolution with the arrival of the Happy Ghast, and Konci uses that extra space to give each one a face of its own. It works on the player's side only.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.9 to 26.2.
What changes visually
- Both Ghasts have eyes set lower and further apart, plus subtle extra detailing.
- Happy Ghasts get a faint bluish tint, a happier expression and no tear marks.
- Nether Ghasts look drier and more wrinkled, and visibly more depressed.
- Dried Ghasts get their own item texture.
The aim is contrast. Side by side, the two mobs now read as different creatures rather than one model at two sizes. The Happy Ghast looks well hydrated, while the Nether Ghast looks shaped by the Nether's drought.
How to install it
- 1.Get the pack's .zip from Modrinth.
- 2.In Options > Resource Packs, choose Open Pack Folder and drop the file in.
- 3.Move the pack to the Selected side of the screen and confirm.
For general help with adding packs, see the resource pack installation guide.
Older releases and limits
Before 1.21.6 the pack still loads, but only the regular Ghast texture changes. A pack built for another release can also show an incompatibility warning.
Questions about Tears & Cheers - Ghast Revamp.
4 questions
What does the Tears & Cheers ghast revamp change?
It redraws the Ghast and the Happy Ghast with lower, wider-set eyes and finer detail. Happy Ghasts get a bluish tint and no tear marks, Nether Ghasts look dry, wrinkled and sadder, and the Dried Ghast gets a unique item texture.
Does Tears & Cheers work on older releases?
Yes. Its listed range runs from 1.9 to 26.2. Releases before 1.21.6 still get a retextured regular Ghast, which is the only change they show. Newer releases get the full set of changes, including the Happy Ghast. Loading it on an unlisted release may show an incompatibility warning.
Is Tears & Cheers available for Bedrock?
No. It is a Java resource pack hosted on Modrinth, and Bedrock uses a different pack format. Bedrock players would need a separate pack made for that format.
How do I install Tears & Cheers - Ghast Revamp?
Put the downloaded .zip in your resourcepacks folder, which you can reach through Options > Resource Packs > Open Pack Folder. Then move the pack to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen. Only the player needs it.
