Low Fire, Shield & More is a 16x, vanilla-like resource pack for Java Edition by penetrator. It makes fire, shields, food, totems, rockets and potions sit lower on screen, and it adds an eating animation to food. It runs on the client only.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.9 to 26.3.

What changes visually

The affected items include:

  • Shields, food, totems and fire charges
  • Rockets, potions, compasses and clocks
  • Ender Pearls, plus further items beyond this list

Food also gets an eating animation. On 1.21.4 and newer it applies to every food item. The animations come from the Eating animation resource pack, used with its creator's permission.

Release or beta

Two files are offered, one release and one beta. The beta shrinks the totem pop effect as well. The trade-off is that totems held in item frames also appear small, so pick the release file if you display totems.

How to install

  1. 1.Open Options, then Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder.
  2. 2.Put the pack's .zip in the resourcepacks folder.
  3. 3.Move the pack to the Selected side of the screen.

A pack built for another release can still load but shows an incompatibility warning. Our guide to installing resource packs covers the steps in more detail.

Questions about Low Fire, Shield & More.

3 questions

Does Low Fire, Shield & More add eating animations?

Yes. The pack adds an eating animation to food, and on 1.21.4 and newer it applies to every food item. The animations are taken from the Eating Animation resource pack, used with the permission of its creator.

What is the difference between the release and beta files?

The beta shrinks the totem pop effect. Its side effect is that totems shown in item frames are also small. The release file keeps item-frame totems at normal size, so choose it if you decorate with them.
