VDX: LCE/4JD UI

A 16x Bedrock resource pack by CrisXolt that restyles menus and inventories after the Legacy Console UI. It is built for 1080p and does not touch screens that use Ore UI.

VDX LCE/4JD UI is a 16x, simplistic Legacy Console UI resource pack for Bedrock that replaces the default interface with a Legacy Console style, aiming at roughly 70% accuracy. It changes only how screens look, so it runs on your own device and needs no loader.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.21.111 to 26.10.

What changes visually

CrisXolt has modified the main screens, menus and inventories. Not every screen is covered yet. Help sections, a credits screen, a new font, storage management and the Play and Create World screens are listed as upcoming. Some UI options can be adjusted in ui/_global_variables.json. Only an adaptive layout exists for now, and English (en_US and en_UK) is the only supported language.

Installation

  1. 1.Open the pack file with Bedrock so it imports. The general steps are in how to install add-ons on Bedrock.
  2. 2.Switch the pack on under Resource Packs in your world's settings.
  3. 3.Set the screen to 1080p with GUI scale -1, or 0 if the screen safe area is 0.0.
  4. 4.To remove it, go to Help & Options, Settings, Graphics, then Resource Packs, and deactivate it.

Known limitations

Ore UI, the newer UI engine, now draws several screens, and a resource pack cannot change them. These stay vanilla: Play, Settings/Options, Create World with templates, Disconnected, Achievements, sleeping, You died! and the Permission List. The Trade v2 screen does not work on third-party servers, and gamepad accuracy is not perfect. The pack is not recommended alongside other resource packs, and it will clash with any pack that edits the UI. Questions about VDX: LCE/4JD UI.

4 questions

How do I install VDX LCE/4JD UI?

Open the pack file with Bedrock so it imports, then activate it under Resource Packs in your world's settings. For the intended look, use a 1080p screen with GUI scale -1. On mobile, set File Storage Location to External first, so your save data is safe if an update breaks the modified UI.

Does VDX LCE/4JD UI work with other resource packs?

Not well. The creator does not recommend combining it with another resource pack, especially on a single world, and it cannot be used with packs that also modify the UI. Compatibility with such packs may come later.

Why are some screens still the normal Bedrock design?

Ore UI, the newer UI engine, draws screens such as Play, Settings, Create World with templates and Achievements. Resource packs cannot modify those, so they stay unchanged. The creator plans to research an external approach, but nothing is promised.

Is VDX LCE/4JD UI available for Java?

No. It is a Bedrock-only resource pack. The creator names Legacy4J, a mod by WilyIcaro, as a Java option that changes the interface and wider parts of the game.
