Anti Aliasing (TAA, FXAA) is a vanilla-like shader pack by LoLip_p that fixes aliasing on textures and object boundaries. It is an anti-aliasing shader for Minecraft Java that runs on Iris and OptiFine and only needs installing on the player's side.
Shader loaders and versions
- Iris and OptiFine: Minecraft 1.8.9 to 26.3.
FXAA and TAA modes
The pack offers two modes. FXAA is a simple, fast post-filter that blurs sharp edges. TAA uses data from previous frames to produce a smoother image, especially when things move. The first is faster, the second more accurate.
The showcase compares the same scene with the pack off and on. Off, the image ripples and everything twitches. On, those artifacts disappear. Support for Distant Horizons is included.
How it differs from TAA Project
The TAA implementation was taken in part from TAA Project. On top of it, this pack adds fog support, a new FXAA method and better performance than TAA Project.
Installing the pack
- 1.Install Iris or OptiFine. The pack needs no other dependency.
- 2.Put the .zip in your shaderpacks folder.
Steps for each loader are covered in our shader install guide.
Questions about Anti Aliasing (TAA, FXAA).
4 questions
What is the difference between FXAA and TAA?
FXAA is a simple, fast post-filter that blurs sharp edges. TAA uses data from previous frames to build a smoother image, especially when there is movement. FXAA costs less, while TAA is the more accurate of the two modes.
Does Anti Aliasing (TAA, FXAA) work with Distant Horizons?
Yes. The pack lists support for Distant Horizons, and its builds for Iris and OptiFine require no other mod.
Does it work with both Iris and OptiFine?
Yes. The pack ships builds for both Iris and OptiFine, and neither build requires another mod. Put the .zip in the shaderpacks folder and pick it in the shader menu of whichever loader you use.
Is it a good choice for low-end PCs?
The pack claims better performance than TAA Project, and FXAA is the faster of its two modes, so FXAA is the one to try first on weaker hardware. Results depend on your own system, so test both modes before settling on one.
