Boosted Brightness

A core shader pack by Bluebird that stretches the brightness slider to ten times its usual reach. It lights dark caves and nights without mods and works alongside Sodium.

Boosted Brightness is a vanilla-like brightness pack for Java by Bluebird. It reuses the lightmap core shader introduced in 1.21.2 to multiply the in-game brightness slider by ten, which allows fullbright. It runs on the player's own install only, and dedicated hosting is unsupported.

Shader loaders and versions

  • Vanilla Shader: Minecraft 1.21.2 to 26.3.

What it changes

The creator's page compares three settings, brightness 10, brightness 50 and brightness 100.

It works in plain vanilla and alongside Sodium, and no other mods are required. Because it relies on a core shader rather than a lighting mod, it needs no shader loader of its own.

Installation

The newest release, 1.4, requires nothing else. For a general walkthrough of pack folders and menus, see how to install shaders.

  • Needed only on the player's own install, since hosting is unsupported.
  • Works without any mods, and with Sodium.
  • Brightness is set by the normal in-game slider.

Trade-offs and companions

Fullbright here means a much brighter slider, not flat lighting. For uniform lighting, where a cave matches the surface, or for boosted darkness, the creator points to Fullslide by blockerlocker.

Players on 1.21.9 to 1.21.11 who want Bluebird's night vision fix pack alongside this one will find a second file labelled Boosted Brightness NV Fix under the main file on that release.
