MotionBlur+

A single-purpose shader pack that adds motion blur to fast movement. GlacierDevelopment tuned it for PvP and Bedwars, and it focuses solely on the blur.

Minecraft versions1.8.9, 1.20.6, 1.21.11, 26.1.2

MotionBlur+ is a motion blur shader for Minecraft Java by GlacierDevelopment, aimed at PvP and Bedwars. It runs on Iris and OptiFine and is installed on the player's side only. It does one job, smearing fast movement, and adds nothing else to the picture.

Shader loaders and versions

  • Iris: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.1.2.
  • OptiFine: Minecraft 1.8.9 to 26.1.2.

What it changes

The blur makes quick turns and strafes easier to follow during a fight, and it suits anyone recording footage who wants a soft sense of speed. It is described as built around the 1.8 PvP scene.

  • Motion blur on fast camera and player movement.
  • Low performance impact, listed under the low and potato tiers on Modrinth.
  • Focuses solely on motion blur, without unnecessary extra visual effects.
  • Needs no other mod or library beyond the shader loader.

Installing MotionBlur+

You need Iris or OptiFine already running. If shaders fail to appear, the guide on fixing shaders that will not load covers the usual causes, and the shader install guide walks through the basics.

  1. 1.Install Iris (on Fabric or NeoForge) or OptiFine.
  2. 2.Place the shader's .zip file in the shaderpacks folder.
  3. 3.Select MotionBlur+ in the loader's shader menu.

Questions about MotionBlur+.

4 questions

Does MotionBlur+ work with Iris and OptiFine?

Yes. Both loaders have builds listed, and neither build needs another mod. On Iris you select the pack under Video Settings, then Shader Packs. OptiFine uses its own shader menu. Either way the pack goes in the shaderpacks folder as a .zip file.

Is MotionBlur+ good for low-end PCs?

It is built to be light. The creator describes a low performance impact, and Modrinth files it under the low and potato categories. Those are editorial tiers rather than a hardware promise, so results still depend on your system and the shader loader you run.

How do I install MotionBlur+?

Install Iris or OptiFine first, then put the pack's .zip in your shaderpacks folder. Select MotionBlur+ in the loader's shader menu (Video Settings, then Shader Packs on Iris). The pack runs on the player's side only, so nothing needs installing on a host.

Does MotionBlur+ work on Bedrock?

No. MotionBlur+ is a Java shader that depends on Iris or OptiFine, and both of those are Java mods that Bedrock cannot run.
