Pagoda Shaders

A soft, anime-style shader pack inspired by East Asian tradition, with a pink sunset and waving water. It drops foliage animation to stay light on low-end and midrange PCs.

Minecraft versions1.20, 1.20.6, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2

Pagoda Shaders is a cartoon-leaning shader pack for Minecraft Java on Iris and OptiFine, inspired by Japanese, Chinese and Korean tradition. The look recalls old-style anime: soft lighting, warm tones and a pink sunset. It works on the player's side only, so a dedicated host needs nothing.

Shader loaders and versions

  • Iris and OptiFine: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.2.

Visual identity and effects

The pack leans on atmosphere rather than realism. Water is reflective and moves with waves, and the tone is peaceful and nostalgic, closer to a painted scene than a simulation. It sits in the cartoon, fantasy, semi-realistic and vanilla-like categories.

  • Pink-themed sunset with a gentle, serene atmosphere
  • Reflective water with waving motion
  • Shadows and colored lighting, both tagged by the creator
  • No waving foliage, by design

The performance trade-off

Missing foliage animation is the price of the light load. Leaves and grass stay still, which suits low-end and midrange PCs but flattens a forest. The creator tags the pack potato, low and medium, which is positioning, not a hardware promise.

Installing Pagoda Shaders

  1. 1.Install Iris (on Fabric or NeoForge) or OptiFine. Neither loader needs an extra library for this pack.
  2. 2.Get the .zip from Modrinth and place it in the shaderpacks folder.
  3. 3.In Iris, open Video Settings > Shader Packs and select Pagoda Shaders.

The shader install guide covers the folder steps in detail, and the fix guide helps when the pack does not appear in the menu. Bug reports go through the creator's Discord, and a wiki lives at glacier.dpdns.org.

Questions about Pagoda Shaders.

4 questions

How do I install Pagoda Shaders?

Install Iris (on Fabric or NeoForge) or OptiFine, then get the pack's .zip from Modrinth and put it in the shaderpacks folder. With Iris, open Video Settings, choose Shader Packs and select Pagoda Shaders. No extra library is required on either loader.

Does Pagoda Shaders work with Iris and OptiFine?

Yes. The pack has releases for both loaders, and the newest one for each is 1.1, published on 2026-07-05. Neither release requires any additional mod or library, so the loader alone is enough.

Is Pagoda Shaders good for low-end PCs?

The creator removed waving foliage on purpose to help low-end and midrange PCs, and tags the pack potato, low and medium. Waving water stays. Real frame rates depend on your hardware and settings, so treat the tags as the creator's intent, not a promise.

Does Pagoda Shaders work on Bedrock?

No. Pagoda Shaders targets Java and depends on Iris or OptiFine, which are Java mods that Bedrock cannot run. Bedrock players need a different shader format entirely, and this pack is not offered in one.
