Raincore

A moody shader pack that turns the world into a damp, grainy 1998 memory with pixelated effects. Light enough for integrated graphics, and it needs Iris.

Raincore is a cursed, semi-realistic shader pack for Minecraft Java that runs on Iris. It aims for the smell of wet earth after rain, with pixelated effects and a grainy, lo-fi finish. It is client-side only and does not work as a server-side feature.

Shader loaders and versions

  • Iris: Minecraft 1.18 to 26.2.

Look and effects

lanzhan5656 describes the pack's mood with one line: the rain never stopped in 1998. It is the creator's fifth shader pack and builds on their earlier work, Lantern Shader. The result is deliberately soft and gritty rather than sharp and glossy.

  • Pixelated effects with grain for a lo-fi image
  • Colored lighting and shadows

Performance and settings

Raincore sits in the potato tier. The creator says integrated graphics are enough for smooth play and no high-end hardware is needed. A render distance of 8 chunks gives the intended visual balance, and the creator advises keeping it between 8 and 11 chunks. Going lower is possible.

Installation

  1. 1.Install Iris for your Fabric or NeoForge setup. The shader install guide covers the steps.
  2. 2.Put the Raincore .zip into your shaderpacks folder.
  3. 3.Open Video Settings, then Shader Packs, and select Raincore.

If the pack does not appear or the screen stays vanilla, the shader troubleshooting guide lists the usual causes. Bedrock Edition cannot run Iris, so this pack is Java only.

Questions about Raincore.

3 questions

How do I install Raincore shaders?

Install Iris, place the Raincore .zip in your shaderpacks folder, then open Video Settings and choose Shader Packs to select it. The pack is client-side, so nothing needs to be added to a server. Java Edition is required.

Does Raincore run on low-end PCs?

The creator says no high-end hardware is needed and integrated graphics are enough for a smooth experience. Modrinth files it under the potato tier. A render distance between 8 and 11 chunks gives the intended look.

Does Raincore work on Bedrock Edition?

No. Raincore is a Java Edition shader pack that needs Iris, and Iris cannot run on Bedrock Edition. Bedrock uses a different shader format, so this pack will not load there.
