Ripple Shaders is a realistic shader pack by Eptune for Java players on Iris and OptiFine. It forks Sundial Lite and adds cinematic lighting, glowing ores and reflective water and metal. It runs locally only, so a multiplayer host needs nothing and does not support it.

Shader loaders and versions

  • Iris and OptiFine: Minecraft 1.19 to 26.1.2.

Effects and look

The signature change is water. A reworked wave system gives the surface a more natural, moving ripple, and Diamond, Iron and Gold blocks carry metallic reflections. Those two effects define the pack.

  • Radial sunbeams break through trees, mountains and cave entrances. They are sky-aware, so they do not bleed into torchlight or lava.
  • Every vanilla ore, including the Deepslate variants, Nether Gold, Nether Quartz and Ancient Debris, gets a high-contrast emissive glow.
  • Going underwater triggers a layered screen distortion, with waves rippling across your vision.
  • Plants and leaves sway at double the default speed.
  • Motion blur is stronger out of the box, and optional letterbox bars can be toggled in the in-game menu.

Installing Ripple Shaders

  1. 1.Install Iris (on Fabric or NeoForge) or OptiFine. The shader install guide covers both.
  2. 2.Place the pack's .zip file in the shaderpacks folder.
  3. 3.Open Video Settings, then Shader Packs in Iris, and select Ripple Shaders.

The newest release lists no required dependencies on either loader. If the pack does not appear or the screen stays vanilla, the shaders not working fix is the next stop.

Performance and trade-offs

The description pitches the pack at low and mid-range hardware, thanks to Sundial Lite's efficient foundation. Modrinth lists it under the high and path-tracing categories. Expect to tune settings rather than assume a light load.

Questions about Ripple Shaders.

4 questions

Is Ripple Shaders based on Sundial Lite?

Yes. Ripple Shaders is a fork of Sundial Lite by GeForceLegend, modified by EptuneStudios. It keeps that pack's efficient foundation and adds reworked water waves, metallic reflections, sunbeams, glowing ores and stronger motion blur. The original copyright notices are preserved under GPL-3.0-or-later.

Does Ripple Shaders work with Iris and OptiFine?

Yes. The pack lists releases for both Iris and OptiFine, covering Minecraft 1.19 to 26.1.2. Iris runs on Fabric or NeoForge. The newest release lists no required dependencies on either loader.

Does Ripple Shaders work on Bedrock?

No. It is a Java pack, and Iris and OptiFine are Java mods that Bedrock cannot run. Bedrock uses a different format for visual packs, so this shader will not load there.

Will Ripple Shaders run on a low-end PC?

The creator describes it as tuned for low and mid-range hardware. Modrinth, however, lists it under the high and path-tracing categories. Results depend on your GPU, so start with lower settings and raise them while watching your frame rate.
