Yamashita Shimejize is a pixel-art shader pack for Java, running on Iris and OptiFine. It is a stylized fork of Miniature Shader that carries the chunky look beyond shadows into fog, water, weather and sky. Modrinth files it under the potato performance tier, and it works on the player's machine only.
Shader loaders and versions
- Iris and OptiFine: Minecraft 1.19 to 26.1.2.
Effects
The pack keeps scenes readable while pushing everything toward a posterized, miniature-diorama feel. Its effects fall into a few groups.
- Pixelated shadows, posterized lighting, fog banding and blocky reflections.
- Two-layer clouds with custom cloud shadows, plus heat haze and emissive glow from lava, fire, torches and lanterns.
- Motion blur, godrays, bloom, chromatic aberration, pixel-art lens flare and rain-on-lens droplets with adjustable opacity.
- Optional depth-aware Depth of Field, from a subtle miniature softness to a macro-style photo look.
- Inkblot-style puddles after rain, with water-like reflections on flat terrain.
- Aurora, a post-rain rainbow and shooting stars.
Matching your texture pack
Foliage wind is pixelated too, and it has modes for 16x16, 32x32 and 64x64 texture packs. Pick the mode that matches the resolution of your texture pack.

Questions about Yamashita Shimejize.
4 questions
How do I install Yamashita Shimejize?
Install Iris or OptiFine, then place the ZIP file in your shaderpacks folder without extracting it. Do not extract the shaders folder from the archive, and keep the ZIP as it is.
Does Yamashita Shimejize work with both Iris and OptiFine?
Yes. The pack has releases for both loaders, and neither one requires an extra dependency. Iris runs on Fabric or NeoForge. Pick whichever loader you already use, then place the ZIP file in the shaderpacks folder and select the pack in the shader menu.
Is Yamashita Shimejize a fork of Miniature Shader?
Yes. It is a stylized fork that keeps the miniature, pixelated shadow look and extends it to lighting, fog, water, weather, reflections and sky. Miniature Shader has its own page if you want the original, simpler take on the idea.
Can I use Yamashita Shimejize on Bedrock?
No. Iris and OptiFine are Java mods, and Bedrock cannot run them. The pack is built for Java only, so Bedrock players need a different kind of shader format.
