Simple Saturation is a vanilla-like shader pack for Java that does one thing: it sets the color saturation of the whole world with a slider. It runs on Iris and OptiFine and works on the player's machine only. Modrinth tags it potato for performance, so it suits weak hardware.

Shader loaders and versions

  • Iris and OptiFine: Minecraft 1.12 to 1.21.10.

How the slider works

The pack adds an in-game slider that sets the saturation of the whole world. Its gallery documents three reference points.

  • 0% turns the world fully grayscale.
  • 50% gives normal colors, the same look as vanilla.
  • 100% pushes colors into oversaturated territory.

Installation

You need Iris or OptiFine first. If you have not set one up, the guide to installing shaders on Java and Bedrock covers it. The pack lists no further requirements for either loader.

  1. 1.Put the pack's .zip in your shaderpacks folder.
  2. 2.Use the in-game slider to set the saturation you want.

The latest release is 1.5.0, published on 2025-11-29, and it is the newest for both Iris and OptiFine. Bedrock cannot run either loader, so this pack is for Java only.

Questions about Simple Saturation.

4 questions

How do I install Simple Saturation?

Install Iris or OptiFine, then place the pack's .zip file in your shaderpacks folder. Then use the in-game slider to set the saturation you want. The pack lists no other requirements.

Does Simple Saturation work with Iris and OptiFine?

Yes. The pack lists releases for both loaders, and the newest release, 1.5.0, covers 1.12 to 1.21.10 on each. Neither loader needs an extra library for it. It is a player-side pack, so it has no role on a multiplayer host.

Can I use Simple Saturation on Bedrock?

No. It is a Java shader pack that depends on Iris or OptiFine, and both of those are Java mods that Bedrock cannot run. Bedrock uses a different pack format, so this pack will not load there.

Is Simple Saturation good for low-end PCs?

Modrinth tags it potato, and it is described as a lightweight pack that adjusts saturation through a slider. That points to a light load, but treat it as a rough guide, since actual speed depends on your hardware and loader.
